Die Repota-Appp ist ein universelles Tool für die mobile Datenerfassung für Systeme und Websites, die dafür freigeschaltet sind. Unterstützte Plattformen sind derzeit Wordpress, Typo3 und active-City. Betreiber von Websites, die mit diesen Systemen arbeiten können über die App erfasste Daten übernehmen und direkt in den Webauftritt integrieren. Es sind zwei Demo-Websites frei geschaltet, die für einen Test der App genutzt werden können.Der Betreiber einer Website oder Anwendung, der eine mobile Erfassung von Informationen nutzen möchte, kann viele Eingabefunktionen von der Textzeile über GPS-Position bis zu Photos für die Erfassung von Daten nutzen. So lässt sich leicht Usergenerated Content integrieren ohne gleich eine eigene App zu schreiben.
Über die App können normale Nutzer z.B. Berichte und Reportagen von Veranstaltungen und Ereignissen schreiben und diese sofort an ein entsprechendes Internet-Portal senden. Das Portal muss nur einen account am Repota-Server registrieren und ein Formular für seine Datenerfassung per App als XML-File hochladen. Das Portal kann dann die eingegebenen Daten regelmäßig am Repota-Server abholen oder wenn ein eigener Webservice angemeldet ist auch sofort empfangen.
Eine andere Möglichkeit ist beispielsweise eine die Erfassung von Mängeln an Straßen, Spielplätzen, Laternen, usw. die einfach über ein entsprechendes Formular in der Repota-App erfasst und anschliessend weiter verarbeitet werden können.
