5 ★This has been such a fun app to use on our cross country road trip! It tracks our location and we can easily go back to where we were at a given time and add pictures and captions about what we were doing. Then we can link it to Facebook or send our progress via messenger to family and friends. When we return we can order a book of our pictures and narratives so we have a memory book of our vacation. I am very pleased with this app!
5 ★I love Polarsteps! It's a great way to keep track of where I've gone and show my friends and family. It's also a good way for my mom to know where exactly I am in the world as I travel solo. The battery drain is minimal, adding pictures is easy, and adding steps after the fact if there isn't a pin exactly where you want one is simple and smooth. Highly recommend!
5 ★This is a great app for sharing travel experiences and pictures with friends and family. It is much easier to create and maintain, and more real time, than a travel blog. The gps tracking adds a map dimension that is easy and informative. I recommend it to many friends and fellow travelers...and they all love it. I had a book printed for one trip. It came in a hardcover book printed on high quality paper. Well worth the money. Also like that I don't get a lot of junk mail from the producers.
5 ★I used this to journal my cross country road trip and update family and friends in a cool way. They were able to follow along in real time (without draining my phone battery too much, it's also an option you can turn off) and now I have a cool collection of photos connected to the locations I took them on a visually appealing map with my whole journey!
3 ★I began using this app to document a 6-month journey we are on across the US. I am excited to be able to order a memory book at the end to capture these experiences. There are 2 major drawbacks that need to be fixed. First, it would be helpful to have 2 contributors so that we both can add our owns pics. Second, it is difficult to grab photos off of Google photos. I seem to have to download them first to my phone if I plan to add them into my step.
1 ★Entering past travel steps is very buggy as steps appear out of sequence. If you spend a long time in one city, the "travel lines" make no sense at all as the time in between steps entered is used as your "travel time". The automatic classification of "flight" lines works maybe half the time. This app may be good to create photo books, but I found pretty much useless as a travel blog. Uninstalling the app and looking for something else.
2 ★Disappointed. Got home and found out that I have to upload each pic for each location. I thought this would happen automatically. Turned out to be nothing more than a Google Maps timeline. I said exactly what I meant, the app did not upload pics that coincide with each stop. It just gave me a timeline with my stops but no pics for the stops unless I uploaded them manually.
2 ★Good premise and app. Would definitely increase the star rating if when the map opens on the 1st screen it indicated the locations you have been ( or booked marked) a simple pin or flag ...even better if you click on the flag it opens to that trip or gives you the name of place. Much better when u want to show family and friends an over all visual
3 ★I like the concept this app, but I don't like the fact that I can't control what pictures show up on the story board snapshot. It doesn't matter how I load them, the app selects what picture to display. Also it needs to include various travel modes other than plane. I often travel by train while un Europe, ferry when going to the Cape and automobile throughout the US.
5 ★I honestly don't know how I could rate this app better. It's smooth, not too hard on the battery, does exactly what it says, and allows my family to watch my GPS pins even if I don't post. I've recommended Polarsteps to people since I found it in 2020 and will continue to do so. It's free, easy to travel blog, and fun. My friends and family love it because I'm not communicative and they can just check the private link I sent them for each trip! I won't travel without it on my phone.
5 ★Customer service hung in there and finally figured out the bug with not being able to move a point. The app still has an issue locking up when not in airplane mode, but internet access isn't available. It makes using the app difficult in the backcountry, but it's still an amazing app.
4 ★I love that my family and friends can follow my travels easily, while I add pictures and notes about each city/country that my husband and I are visiting. It's a really cool visual idea. At the end of our long trip, I plan on making an album through the app too. Downside is that there aren't always the hotspots that I'm looking for. Maybe if we could add them in ourselves, it would help. :-)
