世情小说（简体）是中国古典白话小说的一种，又称为人情小说，世情书等。世情小说以描写日常生活为主。以《金瓶梅》最著名。《金瓶梅》是中国第一部文人独立创作的长篇白话世情章回小说。成书约在明朝隆庆至万历年间，作者署名兰陵笑笑生。《金瓶梅》借《水浒传》中武松杀嫂一段故事为引子，通过对兼有官僚、恶霸 、富商三种身份的封建时代市侩势力的代表人物西门庆及其家庭罪恶生活的描述，揭露了明代中叶社会的黑暗和腐败，具有较深刻的认识价值。
《续金瓶梅》全书六十四回，明遗民丁耀亢著。述《金瓶梅》主要人物托生再世、以了前世因果报应故事。全书以《太上感应篇》为说，每回前有引子，叙劝善戒淫说；以宋金征战为历史背景，描摹金人南下、汉人受苦之状颇多，甚为动人；然因有影射明清易帜现实之嫌，丁耀亢以此罹祸下狱。
《欢喜冤家》又名《贪欢报》、《欢喜奇观》，为西湖渔隐主人所作。全书24回，每回演一个故事，集中描写了各种曲折奇异的婚姻悲喜剧，生动展示了明代社会形形色色的人情世态既有对青年男女追求爱情自由所表示的同情；有也有对禁欲主义虚伪性的大胆揭露；还有对女性独立人格及聪明才智的充分肯定。曾在清代被多次禁毁。
《醋葫芦》，明代小说，中国古代十大禁书之一，四卷二十回。首序有“笔耕山房醉心西湖心月主人题”字样，其作者所著尚有《弁而钗》、《宜春香质》等小说，但其真实姓名及生平不可考。叙都氏性妒及其家庭纠葛事。文中曾引用明戏曲家吴炳《疗妒羹》传奇中的某些段略。言成珪出身微贱，娶绸绢铺员外都直之女为妻，难免惧内。都氏不育，又喜妒，疑珪有意于婢。珪因无子，胁迫都氏允其纳妾。都氏竟用高价求一阴阳女为其妾，珪婚后大为不悦，与随嫁之婢翠苔通。都氏发觉，罚珪跪至四更，鞭打翠苔，弃于江中。后被救，与珪成婚并生一子。原来都氏是天界昴日鸡星之妻，性泼悍，犯嫉妒之罪，投胎为都氏。冥王令无常勾取都氏，一路拷打，倍受折磨，后抽去其脊梁上妒筋，转回阳世，从此妒心全无。
