Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

2 ★Good for route planning, borderline dangerous for navigation. Really buggy, app crashes regularly when navigating potentially putting the user in danger when on a mountain and daylight is running out. Wouldn't recommend this at all until the bugs are sorted out. Gone back to using the Viewranger navigation which is pretty much flawless. Edit 2023. Works way better now. Sadly seems to have stopped interacting with Waze which was a super useful feature for driving to the start point of your trail
3 ★This is an update on 11/2023. In fairness, this app is now much better than the original after VR was shut down. Its much easier to use than Memory Map (which appears to be trying to improve also) and has some useful function like north up which you can easily switch to and back. It's still let down by poor graphics, the maps quality is very poor, almost blurred when zoomed in, compared to MM. The maps will not align straight (with north to the top) and always are slightly skewed left or right!
5 ★Had a loggin issue, which was a personal error on my behalf and was a little lost for rectification. I emailed customer services, and within 10 minutes my issue was rectified and everything was back to normal. Hands down, this was their best customer service, service I have ever received. Keep them high standard and excellent service please Many thanks
3 ★Have had this app for a few years after being moved from Viewranger. While the is maps are great and give countryside coverage, I am getting increasingly frustrated at the track recording which too often stops part way through. Today it recorded 3.3km of a 13km track. It wasn't a lost signal as I can see that it stopped when I took a photo so the phone was out at the time. I had the map locked all the time and in fact didn't go in to the app at all. Thinking I'll have to change.
5 ★Best outdoor adventure/exploration app I've ever known. So user friendly, interactive, up to date and fun! I wouldn't want to be without it. I use it mainly for hiking. All the routes so far have been fab. I've never gotten lost. I always find my way using this app and feel invigorated afterwards. Thank you Outdooractive!
3 ★Still, after many years, I am waiting for the option to import a gpx file as a track (not a route). Handy, when tracking unexpectedly ends, & you need to stitch two tracks together offline & reimport. This was an option in ViewRanger.
3 ★i like the outdoir active map. BUT in the last yr it appears to use a lot of battery power and my charger no longer keeps up with the drain. tried new wires and new usb charger. Is there anything i can do to improve it before i cancel.
2 ★As someone that used to use Viewranger the predecessor to outdooractive, I am massively disappointed and feel robbed. Functionality to acces maps I have already paid for to use offline has completely gone, as have routes I had downloaded to try in the future. Getting the app to do basic things seems non intuitive compared to its older version. I will give 2 stars for the fact it's gives the basics for someone new to the app, but marking it down compared to previous app.
3 ★Used it for two years since it replaced the much-missed Viewranger. It has improved a bit, but it's still buggy and not very intuitive. One good feature in the Pro version is that decent foreign maps are included. Otherwise significantly inferior to Viewranger. Please can you add a way of changing the colour of "points" as VR had, so users can tick off peaks/destinations etc for Munro-bagging and the like
1 ★Forced to 'upgrade' from Viewranger app that they switched off access to. In outdooractive, graphs and maps of tracks you've completed no longer show where you were by time, only by distance, making it impossible to see how long you took between any two points. Critical missing functionality. Also the constant upsell to the paid version is really intrusive.
1 ★I have to agree with the many other reviews expressing the issues with this app following the switch from view ranger. I had used viewranger for many years and had recommended to numerous people. This app doesn't have the same quality base maps, the open source maps don't contain as much detail and don't clearly show the different trail types using colour and key. Accuracy is also not as good. App devs, any hope of seeing the same open street base maps as view ranger?
1 ★Not as good as view ranger. Trying to force you to upgrade to Pro (which is an annual subscription and isn't cheap). You can't even enter a coordinate without pro. I've purchased loads of OS tiles over the years - when it was viewranger. Gong to have to kiss them goodbye. Time to find an alternative!
