Aplikacija GORSKI VODNIK uporabnikom pomaga pri načrtovanju izletov in pomočnik pri izletih v gore ter tako prispeva k večji varnosti planincev in izletnikov. Aplikacija vsebuje seznam vrhov in seznam poti do njih, ki jih je prispevala Planinska zveza Slovenije.Za boljšo orientacijo po poti skrbijo zemljevidi s potmi in prikazovanje trenutne lokacije uporabnika. Uporabnik lahko vidi razdaljo do cilja, višinsko razliko, lahko se zabeleži začetek in zaključek izleta, poleg tega pa aplikacija prikazuje tudi čas do sončnega zahoda in s tem uporabnika opozarja, do kdaj lahko varno zaključi pot.
Uporabnik lahko v Planinsko knjižico vnese tako opravljene kot načrtovane izlete (poti). Prav tako lahko vrhove oz. poti do njih doda na listo priljubljenih poti oz. vrhov. Aplikacija na podlagi GPS lokacije avtomatično ponudi zabeleženje osvojenega vrha v Planinsko knjižico, ko se uporabnik nahaja v njegovi bližini.
Razdelek Pokliči na pomoč je namenjen uporabnikom v primeru nesreče. Vsebuje opomnik z osnovnimi informacijami, ki jih je potrebno ob klicu javiti, in bližnjico za klic na pomoč.
