Barrancabermeja sede de la refinería de petróleo más grande del país y capital de la Provincia de Mares. Está ubicada en el departamento de Santander a 101 km al occidente de Bucaramanga, con una temperatura medio de 29° grados y con una superficie de 1.154 Km2, una población de 300.000 habitantes.No se tiene un dato concreto de su fundación, pero históricamente fue fundada el 26 de abril de 1922.
