1 ★Grabage app. I have to reinstall every time to pair
1 ★I echo all the 1 star apps on this page. Frankly, all phone apps are mostly garbage. But this one is especially so. Every bug commented on by every reviewer on this page I have experienced. The concept of this product is a great idea, but without the functionality of the the phone app you might as well just have a cheap fixed temperature hot plate. I have no intention of buying any of their newer products.
1 ★I have two Ember mugs, and although I LOVE the mugs themselves, this app is completely useless. It worked for a while but each update got worse and worse until now they both refuse to connect no matter what I do. This means I can't access or change any mug settings at all. They are basically stuck the way I last changed them. Judging by the other comments, everyone else has the same experience. Why can't they fix this app??? What is the problem?
2 ★Stupid application design. The app asks you to enable location services to pair, but it does not need it afterwards. What's up with that? Are they hoping that the user forgets to disallow location services so that they can send "anonymous" reports of location? I don't need location services to pair my car radio… The app is extremely clunky. It is letting me know that a firmware update is available, but as soon as I start the update, the whole application crashes. It's scary — on the same screen, the app tells you that you must ensure that both the device and your phone have a mostly charged battery otherwise it could brick the device. The touch buttons inside the application are often unresponsive. You think you tapped on them but they do not react at all. Selecting a temperature produces a needlessly loud sound. The French translation is subpar in some areas.
1 ★Useless. My wife has one on am iphone. Works great. On Android, it is a battle to keep connected. Have to repair EVERY time I open app. Turned off battery optimization. Still broken. Tried to pair in android first without app. Still broken. Even when it's connected, it's useless. I change the temperature, leave and come back... It's back to the default. Why is such little attention given to the android app? If you like your coffee at exactly the default temp, just bypass the app.
2 ★For best experience, disable battery optimization for this app, otherwise the Bluetooth connection is hit or miss. This is an issue a 150€ Mug shouldn't have, please work on a more reliable connection. For some reason I'll have to put the mug in pairing mode about once a month to reconnect to it. This should be much better for the price they charge.
1 ★Never stays connected. I've had my mug for about a year. It used to work fine. Now it's never staying connected. Even after repeatedly going through the recommended steps. Stinks because you clear out memory during this process so it also isnt heating like it used to. UPDATE: It seems to be staying connected to BT now but the app itself won't pair it. Customer service claims my phone is not compatible. I've responded with a question referencing that everyone is reporting the same issue here.
1 ★Total garbage on Android. Need zero stars. Paired once, then failed every time it tries to update firmware. Gave up. Then it wouldn't connect. Re-paired, saw the mug. Went back in the morning to use it, won't connect. I'm angry that this piece of garbage was getting editor recommended by online articles. I guess there enough Apple fanboys out there that not a single Android user even reviewed the product itself.
2 ★It barely works, I feel it's the app rather than the mug that's at fault with this product. At least I hope so as that gives a glimmer of a future where I open the app and I don't have to re-pair the mug to gain functionality. Thankfully the mug works as intended without the app although I wish you could set the time for the auto-off when the mug is sat on the charger, I do often come back to my drink after a few hours and it's turned off.
1 ★This sporadically works and then stops working. When I contacted the manufacturer, they keep having me do differrnt things and video it sp they can see. I have done this several times. They said that my phone is not supported. I now see other comments stating the same thing. The limitation is was not disclosed. Seems like misleading advertising to me.
1 ★Would give a zero if possible. Worked great for the most part when I got them at Xmas. Then android got updated to new software and it won't work at all. Support said sorry we will update app when we can your phone is too new?!?!?! Umm your product requires the app to work properly. Why in the world would you not make it a priority to maintain and update.
1 ★App connectivity issues and will not connect to the mug anymore. I have two ember mug 2 and 1 has no problems and the other does not connect at all. Customer service blames the issue on the phone galaxy s21. Why does 1 work and the other not? It's a quality issue of the mug and they are not willing to give an rma to fix. Very disappointing for an expensive product.
