4 ★I love the large selection of anime. It's great to have easy access. I also love that I can have subtitles switch on to all videos unlike some apps where I manually have to do every video. That being said, I'm extremely disappointed that you cannot have English subtitles with English dub. I think crunchy roll should add subtitles for people who are hard of hearing.
2 ★The app is very glitchey especially when casting and reopening app. So for example I would cast the app to my chromecast and towards the end would open the app or just surf through the comments. Then the show is playing on my phone (starting over) while still casting to my tv but the playback featurs would only respond to the cast. Afterward it would reset my progress on the show because it was playing on my phone and casting the end at the same time. It's really annoying and buggy.
1 ★Offline episodes don't delete. Offline episodes frequently buffer and only stop buffering in airplane mode. Dubs, subs, and alt language dubs used to be separate by season, now they're all rolled into one and hard to differentiate which is getting downloaded. The solution used to be installing an older version of the app which worked fine, but today I've been forced to update from a bug free version and I'm not happy about it.
1 ★NOT WORTH A SUBSCRIPTION The Crunchyroll streaming app is extremely disappointing. It has so many issues with streaming; randomly loosing connection, lag (even if you have good Internet speed), and the service doesn't remember well the timestamp you left an episode, if you go back later to watch or after loosing connection it takes you back 1-2 episodes. Lacks many features; -Picture in Picture view: you are not able to have the video even on background while using your phone. -More...
4 ★I love the large selection of anime and I have used this for years! Though I do have one issue that has bothered me for almost the entire time I have used the app. Whenever I'm watching a show and using my headphones it can randomly have the audio cut out. Example: Hel- *stops* -lo *stops* -How a- *Stops* -Re- *Stops* -You- *stops* -To- *stops* -day- (How are you today) The visuals also stop whenever the audio stops. The only way to fix it is to fast forward, rewind or close the app
1 ★The only good thing about crunchyroll is the variety of media available. The stability, consistency of service, UI, etc. are the absolute worst. I get logged out every few episodes, the interface is labarynthian, and for whatever reason the audio will always default to Spanish. If it weren't for the fact that this is the only platform in which I can legally watch many of my favorite shows, I would never use it.
1 ★This crumby app seems to think I'm streaming it on another device when I'm not. I'm tired of having to have it constantly retry to see my episodes. It also has resuming issues when I try to return to an episode I left off on. It sometimes starts at the beginning again. It also has only partial coverage on the skip intros. Not all intros can be skipped. I cancelled my subscription due to very poor service.
1 ★Everything is great except the PS4 app. Stutters and reloads so often that it turns a 20 minute episode into a 40 minute test of patience. This is while connected via Ethernet as well. When watching on my phone with 4G I have zero issues like this. Crunchyroll replied to my review thinking this was about ads, but I am a premium user so I don't get ads, this is app related. Also the new screen cast feature would have helped but it does not find my TV. YouTube has the same feature and works fine
3 ★this streaming service is inconsistent. it's a SONY company and the servers should be flawless but after 2-3 episodes it starts to buffer and then stops and kicks me out. I quit using Crunchyroll for a couple of years for that same reason until there was an anime I wanted to watch. however the problem isn't fixed and it doesn't matter which TV I watch, brand new too of the line Sony or a Phillips, the service is very glitchy. That is my experience before Sony bought it and after.
1 ★After the recent update I can't use my crunchyroll app. It just tells me that I can't connect to crunchyroll and I'm a premium member. Note that I've not had any problems since the app first came out and now all of a sudden I can't use the app or watch anything from my lists because it just keeps saying can't connect to crunchyroll. Please fix this issue or refund my purchase please
2 ★For wanting a monopoly on anime streaming, Sony sure doesn't want to put forth the effort to make the streaming service actually work properly. It constantly has buffering issues on both new releases and older titles when streaming and when casting. The app also does not display new episodes properly when you go to look at a series on release day. It should not be this hard to stream anime. Funimation didn't have half the problems that Crunchyroll does.
3 ★I love the app and the large selection of anime. I just have one problem though. Alot of anime I see sometimes don't have alot of language options. For instance, like Haikyuu I know there's an English dub for that but it's not available. Also like the same with Jujutsu Kaisen I see that there's a Hindi dub but it's not on the app. Those were just examples but I wish that there were more language options. I feel like I'm just not getting the full thing. But it's a great app and I love it!
