Niniejsza aplikacja opracowana została przez: Stowarzyszenie Dolina Pilicy, Lokalną Grupę Działania „Perła Jury” oraz Stowarzyszenie Lokalną Grupę Działania „BUD-UJ RAZEM” w ramach realizacji projektu „PILICA –ATRAKCYJNA TURSYTYCZNIE” nakierowanego na wzbogacenie oferty promocyjnej i turystycznej dorzecza rzeki Pilicy poprzez rozwój szlaku wodnego na odcinku jej górnego i środkowego biegu rzeki w ramach działania 4.21 „Wdrażanie projektów współpracy” Programu Rozwoju Obszarów Wiejskich na lata 2007-2013.Rzeka Pilica jest najdłuższym lewym dopływem Wisły o długości 325,4 km i pow. dorzecza 9258 km2. Pod względem długości klasyfikuje się na ósmej pozycji w rankingu rzek w Polsce. W trakcie swego biegu rzeka często zmienia kierunek, głębokość i szerokość, tak koryta, jak i doliny. Meandrujące po dnie swojej pradoliny koryto rzeczne wytworzyło przez lata różnej wielkości łagodne zakola, zakręcające niekiedy nawet o 180 stopni. W ten sposób powstało szereg starorzeczy oraz wiele stałych, urokliwych wysp, pokrytych bogatą roślinnością, stwarzając tym samym kajakarzom możliwość wyboru trasy spływu.
