The Official Guide for Connecticut State Parks & Forests Pocket Ranger® app has gotten a total makeover!This FREE all-inclusive outdoor guide was created in a collaborative effort between the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection and ParksByNature Network®, and the next generation of the app is better than ever.

5 ★I downloaded this app for use this summer, and it has been great! I love the fact that I can quickly view which parks allow camping, see them on the map, and even connect to make an online reservation. It has been the perfect summer vacation companion as I discovered new trails, parks, and activities in the state! I updated the app and there has been no crashing. Highly recommend!
5 ★Super handy to have. Though as noted in other reviews, the app could use more compatibility testing on developers end. Im using a Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 8 and have no problems at all. Nice job
5 ★These state park apps have proven to be very useful during my outdoor excursions! I love discovering new places to hike and the park maps are very helpful to have at my fingertips. I have a lot of fun snapping pictures of my favorite scenic waypoints and sharing them on facebook and with family and friends easily as well. I would definitely recommend this app to any park goer!
1 ★The pocket ranger app for android is seriously lacking. And I'm being quite nice. 2 hours ago when I was at Hammonasset State Park I would have lynched the developer had I run into him. I traveled an hour to go to the park to participate in the CT geochallenge and to get a little needed exercise at the same time. Unfortunately most of my time was spent screwing with the app which would crash repeatedly, fail to recognize when I had reached a goal and would continually go to a blank screen. I was able to get 3 of the 4 challanges at the park completed, but after spending 45 inutes screwing with the app and walking around the final target numerous times, I was unable to record a completion. Bottom line, the software is horrible and should not even be advertised. I feel that you personally wasted a lot of my time and cost me $13 for the park entrance fee not to mention the gas to get there. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Unfortunately I have to give it at least one star, but the rating is actually 0 stars.
2 ★App now force closes all the time, park maps stopped loading. Reason I'm keeping app is because at least I can get list of parks, then I go on the net to look up individual park. Please fix, I'd love to use it.

5 ★This is an amazing resource for any hiker located in or around Connecticut. Includes features such as a map of every state park, details of every state park including trails maps, the ability to cache GPS maps, as well as other information regarding volunteer opportunities, you name it... even has a nice photo sharing option built in. Note that I have not had any problems with the App crashing. I am running ICS on a Sony Xperia Ion. I recommend 100%! Extremely well designed app!
1 ★Map feature does not work. A look on CT DEEP yielded the same GUI that was in the app - obviously the app is mirroring the website formatting instead of standing on is own as an independent product. All this with broken links. With intrusive full screen pop up advertisements. I hope this was not funded with tax $.
2 ★Difficult to navigate. Some "features" just don't work. Endless prompts to login, even after logging in 10 times. Slow to work. Crashes and freezes a lot.
4 ★Really good app, still needs a little work but over all it's a greatreference tool. It let you know rules and regulations of parks. Also allowsdownloads of park maps for later review. Sometimes it takes time to loadbut for the most part the app works perfectly fine. With a little more workit should be a great tool.
