3 ★I absolutely love the History channel, and I went ahead and downloaded the app despite reading previous reviews about the ads. They were right. You have to watch ads before your show starts (sometimes up to 6) and then there are 5 ad stops in each of my shows, with 2-4 ads each. It is VERY annoying, and there is no way to skip any of them. It has almost ruined my want to stream anything on the app. I also noticed the ads are packed on during peak hours and less on late hours.
5 ★Learning a little bit about the long list of unknowns is very fascinating. In some cases you can sense the connecting of dots, yet, the real history is still elusive. The curiosity is extremely addictive, as well as the knowledge I've gained. Of the few hobbies I enjoy, the diversity of the programing provided has definitely become a "hobbie", and the photography, data, interviews, research, and subjects are second to none. 1 ★This app is an exercise in frustration. Tried to watch Season 9 of Alone on it, and the ads constantly lockup, and then you can't pause, stop, rewind, or do anything. Even exiting and starting over doesn't always work. Then, when you do finally get back in you find it just kept running, and you have to go back and figure out where you were. Found out I could watch on Hulu, switched to it, and works flawless. History app is garbage. Will be uninstalling it, what a waste of time.
1 ★This app is unusable. Lots of episodes of Ancient Aliens, which is good because they don't play it enough on TV, but the app glitches out every ad break, then you reload the app, watch the ad again, then the app crashes again. It's bad enough we have to watch so many ads, but to not even get to watch the show in between the ads, that's not fair.
2 ★My biggest grief is between the apps functionality and the incredible amount of absolutely ear shattering volume of the ads. The format and layout are ok. Let's say you are looking for a show and hey you found one. As you click on the show it appears to start right away, only to load a little more and play 7 ads. Finally the ads are over... back to the show only for the show to play for 10 second and load back up skipping portions or jumping around. Not the worst but definitely not great.
4 ★Occasional hiccups in the ads and casting functions keep this from bring perfect. Playing the same ad five times in a row is irritating. Having the app crash while trying to cast is annoying. But it doesn't happen often. Other than that, the only other concern is the inability to watch an episode over again. The app plays all the ads associated with the episode, then goes back to the menu instead of playing the episode. Work it out guys!
1 ★Editing previous review, lowering rating. Ads are mis-playing. The ad timer shows ad running when it isn't. Ads cut out content. App doesn't respond to pause, stop, rev/ff and must be exited. When choosing an episode, it flashes a choice to replay or advance to the next episode but there is not enough time to make the choice nor stop it. This app is almost completely useless.
1 ★This is a terrible streaming option. Shows buffer constantly and have to be restarted, but ads (and there are a lot) never buffer. Everytime I exit and re-enter the app I have to sign in again. I thought that by creating a profile it would help, but it doesn't. Between ads, buffers, and all the stuff it takes to get back into the episode it takes almost 2 hours to watch a 1 hour episode.
1 ★Worst app of all time. It crashes constantly and isn't capable of resuming an episode where I left off. The interactive ad option is garbage. I select that option and it crashes. Then there is the commercials I have to watch. Sometimes it shows the same commercial five times in a row. Annoying as hell! There should be a commercial free option. This app sucks!
5 ★Enjoy the app... The adds really frustrating though. They are always the same ones over and over for the entire show, which is maddening. I also don't like that the adds glitch alot, and don't give you the option to click back to the show, which means you have to go back to the home screen, pick the show and start it again, and it always starts from the beginning, so you have to fast forward to where you left off, and it immediately makes you watch more ads.
1 ★WORST APP EVER! This app crashes all the time with a non specific error screen. Not only do you have to sit thru multiple ads when trying to continue watching after the mystery crashes but the same ad runs over and over and over and over....... It's as if the ad revenue is more important than streaming shows with a quality experience. Good luck with it.
1 ★This app is horrible. when it goes to commercials, then it plays the audio to the show your watching but shows a blank black screen. then you have to back out and play again. Have to do this after every commercial, sometimes multiple times. Dont get me wrong, it plays tge commercials beautifully, but if you want a seamless viewing experience of the show you want to watch, then tough luck.
