고신총회세계선교회가 준법인 체제의 이사회로 출범한지 2년째가 되었습니다. 지난 1년 동안 새로운 법인으로의 전환을 위해 규칙 변경과 체제를 정비했습니다. 그로인해 올해부터는 보다 역동적으로 선교적인 사역에 전념할 수 있게 되었습니다. 이런 중요한 시기에 이사장이라는 큰 직을 매우 작은 사람이 짊어지게 되었습니다. 저는 연약하고 작은 자이지만 여러분의 기도는 저를 큰일을 감당 할 수 있게 할 것입니다.선교는 오늘의 교회가 선택해야 할 문제가 아니라 본질적인 사역입니다. 교회가 이 땅에 존재하는 이유는 하나님의 영광을 위해서인데, 구체적으로 하나님의 영광을 드러내는 두 가지 방법을 성경은 제시하고 있습니다. 하나는 부름 받은 공동체로써 하나님에게 예배와 찬양을 드리는 것입니다. 그리고 다른 하나는 보냄 받은 공동체로써 세상에 복음을 전파하는 선교입니다.
그러므로 예배와 선교가 함께 해야 온전한 교회라고 할 수 있습니다. 교회의 선택으로서의 선교적인 행위만 있고, 본질적인 선교의 내용이 상실된다면 더 이상 성령이 역사하는 살아있는 교회라고 말할 수 없습니다. 저는 선교사 홀로 선교사 일 수 없고, 교회가 선교사라는 관점을 일관되게 주장해 왔습니다. 이런 측면에서 선교 이사회에서도 교회와 함께하는 선교를 지향해 나가려고 합니다.
전 교단이 하나님이 주신 선교 사명에 함께 하는 선교공동체를 만들어 가겠습니다. 그리고 교회와 선교사가 서로에게 감동을 줄 수 있는 소통의 현장을 만들어 보려 합니다. 선교사들에게 귀를 열어서 그들 편에 서서 현장의 소리를 경청하겠습니다. 나아가서 이사님들과 함께 변화에 빨리 대처하는 순발력 있는 결정을 해 나가겠습니다. 가장 중요한 것은 하나님의 뜻을 구하는 무릎의 선교를 중심에 놓고 일 하겠습니다.
저를 이 시대의 세계선교회 이사장으로 부르신 것은 참빛교회도 함께 부르신 줄로 압니다. 교회와 함께 주어진 임기동안 교단과 선교사들을 섬기는 일에 최선을 다 하겠습니다. 모든 총회 산하 교회들과 선교사님들도 잊지 말고 기도로 후원해 주시기 바랍니다. 모든 분들에게 머리 숙여 인사를 드리고 겸손함 마음으로 허리를 굽혀 감사를 드립니다.
