Description

Let a park ranger be your guide! The National Park Service App is the official app for all 420+ national parks. Find interactive maps, tours of park places, on-the-ground accessibility information, and more. The app was created by National Park Service staff—people who know national parks—to help you make the most of your visit. With all of these parks and a brand new app, it will take some time to finish creating content for each park. If you don’t find what you’re looking for now, check back regularly as our rangers work to complete the experience for each of our parks.

Unlike other apps, NPS Mobile takes authoritative information from park rangers and combines it with a great suite of features. Here’s a quick look at some of those features.

Interactive Maps: Each park has a detailed map that includes points of interest, along with roads, trails, and other information to plan your trip.

Park Tours: What is there to see? Self-guided tours take you to interesting places in the park. Discover popular destinations as well as places off the beaten track. It’s like having a ranger by your side to guide your trip, giving you suggestions for places to go and directions to get there. Many tours feature audio—simply press play, lock your screen, and place your phone in your pocket to immerse yourself as you listen.

Amenities: It's the little—and sometimes not so little—things that can make or break a park visit. Learn where you can find and access transportation, food, restrooms, shopping, and more.

Accessibility: The app offers a fully accessible experience with tools to benefit visitors with accessibility needs, such as audio descriptions of exhibits along trails and roads and in visitor centers.

Offline Use: No internet access? No problem! You can download content from entire parks for offline use. It’s especially handy if you’re exploring remote areas in parks or concerned about data limits.

Share Your Visit: Tell your friends and family about the fun things you did by creating and sharing virtual postcards with scenes from the park.

Things to Do: What do you want to do in a park—hike? Take a bus tour or scenic drive? Visit a museum? Join a ranger program? Become a junior ranger? Discover all the fun, entertaining, and educational activities parks have to offer.

News, Alerts & Events: What’s happening? Get news and events for all parks—or selected parks of your choosing.

And that’s just a start! The NPS Mobile app also includes passport stamp locations, fees, visitor center hours and locations, and more.

This one single app includes every one of the 420+ sites in the National Park System, no matter how big or small. Here are just some of the parks you'll find: Acadia, Arches, Big Bend, Bryce Canyon, Crater Lake, Death Valley, Everglades, Glacier, Golden Gate, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Great Smokies, Joshua Tree, Mammoth Cave, Mount Rainier, Mount Rushmore, Olympic, Redwoods, Rocky Mountain, Sequoia and King Canyon, Shenandoah, Statue of Liberty, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Zion.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★Great start! One suggestion, it would be nice to be able to add a location to a list while viewing the location. Currently you can only add it to favorites. I am planning a trip for next summer and want to add locations to my "Want to Visit" list, but I can not do it when I am looking at a location. After I read about a location, I have to back out, go to my lists, edit the list, find the location, and add it there.
5 ★Thank you so much for releasing the app, it's amazing. One note while you are in beta, it seems when I add a significant number of parks (100 or so), the map feature ceases to work. Overall, there is amazing potential with this app and it's already incredibly useful as is!
5 ★Really great. Obviously brand new, so a few UI tweaks needed. But the interface is snappy and intuitive. Maps are just right and the events page(s) are current and easy to navigate. I especially love that I can save favorites, create various lists, download offline maps, etc ALL without creating some silly profile to sync that stuff to some cloud. I very much look forward to seeing more content loaded from the sites, like Teddy's birthplace virtual tour, etc.
2 ★I'm hopeful this will improve but I searched for Zion National Park and when I click to open it the app shuts down repeatedly. Tried it with multiple other national parks and same thing. Also, every time I have to reboot app you have to swipe away all the initial slides. Thx for the response and update I'll definitely watch for updates because it's unusable right now and I'll update my review accordingly. I'm hopeful and look forward to using the app!
3 ★Long awaited and very welcome BUT there is NO WAY to filter the view to only see the actual NATIONAL PARKs without all of the other national monuments, historic sites, etc. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad the app includes everything the NPS system has to offer. It just seems utterly stupid not to make it possible to view a map of only the 53 sites actually designated as National Parks.
3 ★A fair start, but of relatively limited utility so far. Even for major parks like the Great Smoky Mountains NP, this offers little more than a handful of photos, a brief description, a few different ways of listing where the visitor centers / campgrounds can be found and their amenities, a map, news index and a very basic calendar. There's no way to list trails beyond browsing the map, let alone trailheads and their parking info, nor any way to locate scenic points at all. The calendar offers only a daily view, not weekly or monthly. Alerts direct you out of the app to Twitter. And the map, while very detailed, can't highlight info other than visitor centers either, even if filtered. For example, the Hiking filter for GSMNP identifies a single point of interest in the park's entire 500,000+ acres. Nor is all info provided for every park, for example GSMNP lacks campground info, Big South Fork lacks photos, etc. Hopefully *much* more useful and relevant info will be added soon, and info will be fleshed out for the smaller parks in particular.
4 ★Nice app. I just wish i could import all the "parks visited" data from the old My Passport app. We have taken our grandson to a lot of the national parks and historic sites. It would be nice to have all that information imported in the new app.
4 ★Looks nice at the first glance, haven't got a chance to really use it in a park. Trailhead GPS coordinates are not provided though. The direction to trail head will be hard to follow if you are already somewhere in the park.
1 ★Opens to page that is in the way of what you are trying to do. Needs work, should start with a menu not someone elses idea of what you should be doing.
3 ★Great UI, but downloading for offline use is very slow, even on a fast wifi network, and sometimes makes the app unresponsive and difficult to navigate.
5 ★A lot easier than looking parks up on the web, and you can save information for offline use!
1 ★Locks up on splash screen. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Tried rebooting. Still doesn't work. So looking forward to this! Keep working on it please!
