Description

DuckDuckGo is a free browser that provides the most comprehensive online privacy protection in one app. Unlike most popular browsers, it has powerful privacy protections by default, including our search engine that doesn’t track your history and over a dozen other built-in protections. Millions of people use DuckDuckGo as their go-to browser to protect their everyday online activities, from searching to browsing, emailing, and more.

FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS
Search Privately by Default – DuckDuckGo Private Search comes built-in, so you can easily search the web without being tracked.

Block Tracking Cookies While Browsing – Prevent most 3rd-party Internet cookies from tracking you as you browse online.

Escape Website Trackers Before They Load – Automatically stop most hidden trackers (3rd-party scripts) from loading, which prevents companies from collecting and using any personal data from these trackers. Stay secure with our cutting-edge tracker-blocking technology – 3rd-Party Tracker Loading Protection, which goes above and beyond what you get in most popular web browsers by default.

Automatically Enforce Encryption – Force many sites you visit to automatically use an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, which helps shield your data from Wi-Fi snoopers and network onlookers like your Internet provider.

Block Email Trackers (Beta) – Over 85% of emails sent to Duck Addresses (@duck.com) contain trackers that can detect when you’ve opened a message, where you were when you opened it, and what device you were using. Email Protection makes it easy to block most email trackers and hide your existing address when signing up for things online, all without switching email providers.

Protect Your Privacy in Other Apps – Block most hidden app trackers in other apps day or night, and prevent third-party companies from invading your privacy with App Tracking Protection. This feature uses a VPN connection, but is not a VPN. It works locally on your device and does not collect personal data.

Escape Fingerprinting – Help stop companies from creating a unique identifier for you by blocking their attempts to combine specific information about your web browser and device settings.

Block Tracking Cookies – Prevent most third-party cookies from tracking you as you browse online from website to website.

We feature many protections not available on most Internet browsers (even incognito browsers), including protection from link tracking, Google AMP tracking, and more.

EVERYDAY PRIVACY CONTROLS
Tap Fire Button, Burn Data – Clear your tabs and browsing data fast with our Fire Button.

Signal Your Privacy Preference with Global Privacy Control (GPC) – Built in to our app, GPC intends to help you express your opt-out rights automatically by telling websites not to sell or share your personal information. Whether it can be used to enforce your legal rights (for example, current or future CCPA, GDPR requirements) depends on the laws in your jurisdiction.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

3 ★I'm changing from 5 to 3 stars. Many sites have stopped working since 11.13 23 update. Prompt appears to allow permission for drm software. But the prompt is incomplete so that user can't allow or deny access. Screen locks up. Chrome works fine. Please fix asap. Support site is useless. Searching help site is useless too. Links for support don't work.
2 ★Security is wonderful, but I cannot take this app seriously as my primary with bookmark organization THIS bad. All bookmarks go into the outermost level. You can create folders but new bookmarks still drop outside them. I could accept that if there was a group select in the menu. But no, you MUST double back and move everything INDIVIDUALLY. Google goes out of their way to punish you with inconvenience if you turn off monitoring where you can. It's a pity this app does too.
5 ★Never use anything else for searching & browsing! If you have a concern about all the information and personal data that's being gathered, then Duck Duck Go is your first step to ending it. I haven't seen a Google search bar (yes they can be deleted!) nor opened a chrome browser in years 😁 *Full* search results that are complete and unmodified by others. Protect yourself from the dozens of apps that are tracking your every move and sending it to only-God-knows-who! The free VPN stops those!
1 ★I had to reinstall this app. Now I can't get rid of the repeated notice on the homepage ("Now try visiting one of your favorite sites" blah blah blah). And Favorites icons no longer appear on the homepage (only the aforementioned stupid notice does). Most settings are buried 2 steps under Private Search (not intuitive at all). What happened to this app??
2 ★DuckDuckGo has been my go-to web browser after I've tried several that were not satisfactory. I think that it has been improved since I wrote my first review. Additional 11/18/ 23. Has a DRM pop-up that cannot be removed except by restarting the phone. Once appears the pop-up will carry over to any other website you want to go to and be an interference in accessing the new site. In my opinion is pop-up is not only an annoyance it may very well be illegal.
1 ★Every update makes it worse. It was excellent over a year sgo, and it' gone down hill since. Most websites I get errors on and or it just won't load correctly. Add blocking really doesn't work as it shoud anymore either. Update November 2023. App was working fine until newest update and now it's constantly freezing, not responding, and unavailable to find a website.
4 ★I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature, but pressing the back button on a tab that was selected from Bookmarks (but NOT from Favorites) puts the app into the background rather than taking you back the blank new tab you started with or the Bookmarks list. Or maybe it should just close that tab and take you back to previous tab. Anything but putting the whole app in the background.
5 ★Been using duckduckgo for 6 years now & the experience has exceed my expectations & more!Love app tracking feature that tells you when an app tries to track you. Only 2 requests are that I would love to see the iOS layout where the fire/tab icons are on the bottom of the screen. I use iOS more than Android & would love if you could add app tracking feature to iOS. I hope you can consider this request. If you want peace of mind browsing then trust duckduckgo to have your back & install this app!
2 ★Had higher hopes for this app. No real complaints about functionality. Most everything works flawlessly, except for dark mode. The major downside is lack of features. For one, there's no history. My major complaint is there's no list of websites that you "fireproofed" or disabled protection for. So say you have to disable protection to log in or have better functionality and then browse away forgetting you disabled protection for that site, there's no way to tell what websites you did that to.
4 ★I really enjoy this app! Primarily, I am a staunch supporter of the digital right to privacy, and this browser/app is very accessible. Also, as a recovering tab hoarder, it is especially nice. If the ability to add extensions is ever added, this browser would be perfect. My only issue is that I've had an ongoing (but rare) problem where a popup seems to freeze the app, not allowing scrolling or clicking on links. The only option is to wipe all tabs, which can be immensely frustrating.
2 ★Love it! Works well so far & it stops all the annoying ads! Update: DDG has been closing tabs I didn't close, it doesn't let me rearrange tabs so I can restore the order I want them in, & it doesn't let me zoom windows randomly. I've searched for solutions & haven't found any yet. It's to the point that I'll probably drop it & go to something else. Don't mess with my tabs!
1 ★Duck this. Well, this browser has become absolutely useless. When I first installed it, the precise date and time was on my FB posts after 24 hours. The only thing I had to switch to Desktop for was to change a date and/or time on a post. Then, came the first update and had to switch to Desktop for everything. Now, there's no precise date and/or time at all. Duck might as well re-name themselves Chrome and call it a day. Duck is a waste of storage space. Time to uninstall. Adios. *
