Description
Las Fiestas Patronales de Almuñécar, se celebran en honor a la Virgen de la Antigua, Patrona de Almuñécar del 9 al 15 de agosto.Siendo la procesión de la Patrona el día 15 de agosto, declarada en el año 2.003 como Fiesta de Interés Turístico Nacional de Andalucía.Buena parte de estas fiestas se desarrollan en el Recinto Ferial, situado en el Paseo Blas Infante, donde se ubican las casetas y las atracciones de feria. La programación festiva es muy variada, contando con actividades gratuitas en la Caseta Oficial de Fiestas, así como eventos deportivos, concursos y juegos dirigidos a los más pequeños.Las fiestas finalizan el día 15 de agosto con la Procesión marítimo-terrestre. La Virgen de la Antigua procesiona desde la Iglesia de la Encarnación hasta la playa de San Cristóbal, en la que es embarcada acompañada de multitud de embarcaciones hasta la playa Puerta del Mar. A su paso por los Peñones del Santo, se realiza el Castillo de Fuegos Artificiales, auténtico espectáculo de luz y sonido.
