Description
نامش "احمد اعطا" بود اما همه او را با نام "احمد محمود" می شناسند. احمد در چهارم نخستین روز از زمستان سال 1310 دراهواز زاده شد.آموزش احمد در اهواز شروع شد. پس از گرفتن دیپلم وارد ارتش شد.او جز افسرانی بود که به حزب توده ملحق شده بودند و در پی کودتای سال 32 دستگیر شد و به زندان رفت. بعد به جنوب کشور تبعید شد. نشان های این زندگی در تمامی آثار او قابل بازیافت است.
نخستین داستان احمد محمود در سال 1333 با نام "صب" در مجله امید ایران منتشر شد، در سال 1338 مجموعه ی داستانش به نام "مول" را با سرمایه شخصی به چاپ رساند. پس از آن دریا هنوز آرام در سال 1339، بیهودگی در سال 1341 ، زائری زیر باران در سال 1346، پسرک بومی در سال 1350، غریبه ها در سال 1350، رمان همسایه ها در سال 1353، رمان داستان یک شهر در سال 1358، رمان زمین سوخته در سال 1361، دیدار 1369، قصه ی آشنا 1370 ، از مسافر تا تبخال 1371 رمان مدار سفر درجه در سال 1372 و رمان درخت انجیر معابد در سال 1379 را منتشر کرد.
احمد محمود فراوان سیگار می کشید و دچار بیماری تنگی نفس بود. او بر اثر همین بیماری در سال 1381 در مهر ماه در بیمارستان مهراد تهران درگذشت و جسمش را در قبرستان امامزاده طاهر کرج به خاک سپردند.
