Selain itu, auditor dalam probity audit juga bertugas untuk membantu menilai dari sisi efektivitas, efisiensi dan keekonomisan suatu proses pengadaan/jasa pemerintah.
Penekanan probity audit fokusnya pada bagaimana pekerjaan dilaksanakan atau proses pekerjaan tersebut berjalan, bukan pada hasil akhirnya. Dalam hal ini auditor harus memperjelas bahwa audit probity merupakan proses standar yang bertujuan membantu, mencegah kesalahan atau penyimpangan, bukan mempersulit. Karena itulah probity audit dilakukan dari tahapan indentifikasi kebutuhan dan persyaratan; perencanaan pengadaan; penyusunan dokumen pengadaan dan penerimaan penawaran serta pemilihan penyedia hingga pada evaluasi dan penetapan pemenang, administrasi dan penandatanganan kontrak, termasuk tahapan pelaksanaannya.
