رواية الشئ الأخر تأليف غسان كنفانيرواية "الشيء الآخر" للمرة الاولى في مجلة "الحوادث" الأسبوعية التي كانت تصدر في بيروت، على تسع حلقات متتالية ابتداءً من يوم الجمعة 25 حزيران 1966 تحت عنوان "من قتل ليلى الحايك". ولم يقم كنفاني بإعادة نشر الرواية في كتاب مستقل، ربما بسبب تغيّر الظروف السياسية بعد حرب حزيران 1967.
ورواية "الشيء الآخر" هي نسيج قصصي لم نألفه في نتاج كنفاني السابق أو اللاحق. فهو يكتب عملاً بوليسياً أو شبه بوليسي، ويحيل الحبكة القصصية إلى لحظات من التوتر لمعرفة القاتل، ومعرفة الظروف المحيطة بالجريمة اsلتي أودت بليلى الحايك.
