Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

2 ★Disastrous new app. Solves none of the problems on the old one. Search function doesn't work at all. Keeps circling back to the lead story unasked. Maddeningly difficult to work. Spent hours trying to make it work. Had a useless email exchange, but the help/contact us feature didn't work so I had to find another way to connect. BOO! Can't believe that I'm angry enough to consider canceling my subscription, but maybe I'll switch to the NYTIMES.
1 ★The new UI is much harder to read and pick articles for which I am interested. The headings, text and all aspects run together making it impossible to differentiate sections and/or articles. I have tried all three themes and have the same issue in all of them. The last version of the app was significantly better. This is a giant step backwards to 1995 on the web with a small screen.
5 ★Great app. Very, very easy to navigate among the articles, sections, alerts, headlines, etc. The "audio" function, where the app reads the articles to you (presumably if you're vision impaired or are busy doing something else and want it in the background) isn't the best though. The voice sounds like the robot alert from that 1980's Atari game "Bezerk". After a few times I just went back to reading the articles myself. Very happy overall.
4 ★Fine. I enjoy reading the Post, whether by app, or by browser. Most problems attributable to my phone, not the app. BUT I am so tired of seeing a "sync problems," error message when I open the app. I don't know what it means, I don't care, and I haven't been able to figure out how to make it go away, EVEN after contacting WAPO tech.
1 ★The only "upgrade" this app brings is large, intrusive ads in the middle of every article. It also plays the same ad before each video clip (no matter how short the video), and there's no way to pause the ad when you realize the video isn't worth seeing the same half-minute ad for the forth time. I already pay a subscription to support the WP, this app is making me reconsider that choice.
1 ★This app sucks. The old app was way better. It was like a reasonable newspaper in electronic form with a reasonable amount of ads. This new app has tons of ads that are on a hairtrigger while scrolling. It's not organized like a newspaper instead offering a bunch of curated stories. It's nowhere near as nice as the old one. I didn't want to switch till now but I'm kinda pissed they wouldn't let me use the old app anymore. This is upsetting me so much I might cancel my subscription.
5 ★This is an excellent app for reading the Post. It allows commenting, saving articles and "gifting" a certain number of articles, such as by email or by posting to FB, which means that the recipients can actually read them. It's very well thought out. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to wrk on a Samsung Chromebook -- when I try to read an article the app gets hung on the article's banner picture at the top of the page. But on devices where it works, it'a a fantastic app, and I still recommend it.
2 ★Content is what you expect and is available in the app same as the paper. But two things. App is fancy and cumbersome - sometimes an article will load 3/4 of the text and the last 1/4 will be white space. This is usually just the ones with lots of pictures. Pictures are great, but I'd rather have just text than that nonsense. Second, even if you pay for Basic Digital you still get ads. Get real.
5 ★I used to get home delivery of newspaper for over 20 years. However, I was reading more of just news and style sectionatvtge end. With the app, I read what want, I am not "wasting paper", and I can save an article to read later. With that said, I enjoy the "7" newsletter first thing in morning. Plus, have ever wanted to read a newspaper and it was just not convenient?
4 ★The Post and NYT have the best journalists and opinion writers, but technology, as relates to beautiful and easy to see and understand info graphics is also important. WP is annoying because I cannot copy and paste highlights from an article. Most often, I can't zoom in to look at a pic that was apparently expected to be viewed on a PC. Fix these issues and I will update my rating to five stars.
3 ★Keeps telling me "Sync Problems" but doesn't give any clear info on how to resolve the issue. Also, I can highlight text but the copy and paste function isn't there, nor does highlighted text copy automatically into a Facebook post commentary when I hit the share link. WaPo is decent journalism most of the time, but in my opinion, the app is slightly subpar.
5 ★The previous version of this app was pretty terrible with its gaudy, flashy one-article-at-a-time swiping UI. This version sucks a lot less. It has a more sensible interface now that looks closer to the mobile site. The text layout had some problems before–the lines were way too close together, and the font wasn't great. But they have addressed all of these problems. This app has come a long way, and I am impressed with the progress. I am definitely using it more often now.
