Description
Surah Jummah is the 62nd chapter of the Holy Quran and has 11 verses. It was revealed in Madinah and is named al-Jummah (Friday) because it is the day of assembly when every Muslim abandons trade, transactions and other diversions in favor of gathering infront of Allah to seek the all-encompassing truth and to praise him for his countless blessings. This Surah is an Al-Musabbhit Surah because it begins with the glorification of Allah.The basic goal of the Surah is to encourage the Muslims to get together for the weekly Friday prayer. It starts with the glorification of Allah and proceeds by saying that the Muslims are not like the Jews, who were given Torat but they failed to act upon it and walk on the righteous path towards forgiveness. The Muslims are suggested to leave everything upon hearing the call for prayers (azaan) and rush to the mosque or any other suitable place to offer his prayers.
It is said that whoever recites this Surah frequently in the morning and the evening is protected from the influence of Iblees (shaitaan). According to another narration, whoever recites this Surah regularly is forgiven for his sins and is protected from any frightening or dangerous thing that might happen to him.
