5 ★Great way to explore the island. Fun and great storys. Surprisingly 90% of things recommend were open even with Covid (Budist temple was closed). Felt like having an insider tour guide in the car with us.
5 ★Great tours, shows both the big, well-known sites as well as hidden, unusual but fantastic ones. Could use a couple minor updates, but otherwise incredibly accurate. Great personality of the narrator, easy to understand. Great history and stories, learned a lot of local language and information. I'd definitely recommend to others. I'm glad I was told about this app.
4 ★Although the Kauai app did not work as planned Shaka gave me a complete, no hassle refund. Based on my experience with their other apps (which has been awesome by the way), my recommendation to you is to give them a call BEFORE you leave town with the app and ask what happens when you go offline, even if you've downloaded the app beforehand. For most of this trip you will NOT have cell service and you won't be able to call them if it stops running in the middle of nowhere. My only other issue with the app is that since 2018, the road past Princeville has been badly damaged and it is frequently not open. Not a problem with the app, per se, and there is still lots to see and do, so I'd download it anyway, call Shaka BEFORE you leave town and check the road conditions past Princeville.
5 ★Awesome app! Takes you to great locations around the island and teaches you some cool history along the way. Even if you're not following the route, you can get a story or fun facts as you pass a checkpoint. Using the app to checkout some hidden waterfalls and trails was the highlight of our trip to Hawaii. He taught us a few words in "Pidgin" to use with the locals, which was da kine! I'm no longer in Hawaii, but still find myself going through the app and learning more about the island.
5 ★Loved this app, used it on both Oahu and Kauai to get around. Really liked the stories and history shared, it was like having your own tour guide while you drove at your own pace omitting whatever stops you chose along the way. Made us feel comfortable going out on our own. The only downside, and this could have been user error, was almost every time we would get back in the car, we would have to play with the settings to get the app to play through the stereo on 2 different car rentals.
