প্রতিবছরের মত এবারও বাংলা একাডেমির উদ্যোগে শুরু হয়েছে বছরের বৃহত্তম বইয়ের উৎসব ‘একুশে বইমেলা -২০১৪’। প্রতিবারের মত এবারও মেলায় এসেছে দেশের স্বনামধন্য লেখক ও প্রকাশকদের নানা শ্রেণির হাজারো বই। এই বইগুলো সম্পর্কে মানুষ যেন ঘরে বসেই জানতে পারে এবং তাদের পছন্দের তালিকায় যুক্ত করতে পারে সেই লক্ষ্য নিয়েই তৈরি করা হয়েছে এন্ড্রয়েড অ্যাপ ‘বইমেলা’। অ্যাপটির বিশেষত্ব হচ্ছে, ব্যবহারকারী মেলা প্রাঙ্গণে স্টলের পাশ দিয়ে হাঁটার সময় তার পছন্দের তালিকায় থাকা কোন বই সেই স্টলে থাকলে অ্যাপটি তাঁকে সতর্কবার্তা এবং ভাইব্রেশনের মাধ্যমে জানিয়ে দেবে।এন্ড্রয়েড ২.২ ফ্রয়ো এবং তদূর্ধ্ব ডিভাইসগুলোতে চলতে সক্ষম অ্যাপটি আগাগোড়া বাংলা সমর্থন করে এবং এতে ফোনেটিক ধাঁচে ইংরেজিতে অনুসন্ধান করা যাবে। লেখক, প্রকাশক, বইয়ের ধরন এবং নতুন বই এই চারটি বিভাগে বইয়ের মূল্যসহ তালিকা দেখা এবং পৃথকভাবে অনুসন্ধান করা যাবে। এছাড়া তালিকার প্রতিটি বইয়ের পাশে থাকা তারকা চিহ্ন ব্যবহার করে বইটিকে পছন্দের তালিকায় যুক্ত করা যাবে। অ্যাপের হোম স্ক্রিন থেকে ‘পছন্দের বই বার্তা’ অপশন বাছাই করে জিপিএস চালু করলে মেলা চলাকালীন অ্যাপটি পছন্দের বইয়ের অবস্থান সম্বন্ধে ব্যবহারকারীকে জানান দিবে।
