Description

This server works a proxy for the Envisalink 2DS/EVL3/EVL4 card connected to a DSC Alarm Panel. It will allow you to, among other things, self monitor your alarm system and allows your phone to work as part of your home monitoring and home automation system. You can remotely access your alarm system from anywhere your phone can access the internet. Use of the EYEZ-ON service is also highly recommended but is not required.

The DscServer runs on a dedicated, always on, always connected android phone or tablet running within your network.

Using it, multiple instances of the DscKeypad App and DscKeypad widgets (included) or other similar applications (such as Mi Casa Verde Vera or other automation products) may connect simultaneously using the "fan-out" capability provided. The DscServer appears to any client as a faster version of the Envisalink card itself with some additional capabilities (e.g. zone and partition labels). The server requirements are very modest, I use an old LG phone to run my entire home automation system. Suitable new android phones are available for $10-$30. This simple automation extension can rival the much more expensive services like Rogers Smart Home and Time Warner's IntelligentHome.

Or run the DscServer on a PC or any other OS supporting java. Use the enhanced DscKeypad included in this app to unlock the extra features included in the android or java version of the DscServer such as remote access. logging, and custom command widgets.

This is a sophisticated server with many capabilities and requires some expertise to configure. I am happy to assist as needed. I do offer a full refund if you're unable to get it to work in your environment or are not satisfied in any way.

Features:
o NEW: Use with iPhone HomeKit & Siri (AutomationManager for IoT + HomeBridge for AutomationManager)
o NEW: Google Home, Amazon Echo voice support with full IFTTT integration
o NEW: Full integration with "AutomationManager for IoT". DSC partition, zone, and panel status are available as sensors in the rule engine, and panel commands can be sent to the DscServer allowing easy integration with your home automation.
o Full logging persisted on Google Drive
o Secure, encrypted remote access using your phone or a web browser
o Multiple simultaneous connected clients
o System status cached and trimmed to active zones/partitions to reduce network and client load
o A centralized location for customizing your system such as zone and partition labels.
o self monitoring with immediate email or SMS notifications:
- alarms and trouble
- configurable zone opening/restore
- loss of connection with the Envisalink card
- phone/tablet power loss (will continue on battery)
- phone/tablet low battery warning
- phone/tablet connectivity loss
- midnight status check-in (to confirm connectivity daily)
- use security events to trigger actions such as posting a web site (e.g. to turn video recording or motion detecting on/off, changing the temperature in a wifi thermostat, turning), send an android intent to other android apps (e.g. my Wemo app to control your lights), etc.
- and much more...
o customizable content for eMail, SMS, UDP messages
o Enables home automation - send the DSC application commands using android intents from Tasker, Automagic, etc.
o On screen widgets for submitting custom commands (locally or remotely)
o NFC support to send custom commands, including arm/disarm, etc.

SMS messages can notify you of alarms or trouble even if the internet connection to your alarm system is cut or if your personal phone is not currently attached to the internet.

Remember, DO NOT expose your Envisalink IP connection to an unprotected network; communication provided by the card is not secure. Expose (port forward) the secure port (only) to outside your secure network (after registering the clients you will allow).

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

2 ★App requires me to go into Google developer mode to set it up, and then is really flaky. Errors messages occur regularly, and are in raw Java form versus in a useable, user friendly form. Solution is overly complex. Do I really need three distinct apps on my phone to monitor the system? Feels like the app works on a 'happy path' some of the time, but is definitely not ready for a general consumer.
4 ★Good app, seems to work properly and as described. Lost one star for ease of setup and directions. Takes some time to figure out the settings while having to look at multiple pages on the website. Once again, app is very good it just needs some ui improvements around setup. (Using PC as server)
5 ★Lots of features and works well!
5 ★Great work Mike creating a work around to the envisalink module allowing only 1 connection. It takes a bit of work to get it going but once you get it set it's good and very stable. Tablet keypads are the best.
5 ★Easy to set up server in Win7. After installing Java, I put a shortcut that runs dscserver in the Windows startup folder. Did port forwarding. DscKeypad works on all my Android devices from everywhere. Mike the dev was really helpful. Love it.
5 ★I've been using it for several weeks....I've had perhaps 4 questions - and MikeP responded quickly each time. I would really like to see a 'nix version that you can run/install/ from the command line - but that a minor point. Currently running on a android converted HP Touchpad. Great program for the money. I will comment that if you want to access the app from the internet I don't recall a lot of details explaining that to the general user. I did not have any issue but I do networking stuff for a living....and there is a risk punching a hole thru your FW - no way to know what exposure that provides (I use a port way above 20000). When I get cycles I'll probably create a isolated DMZ for the server to live in - and control what it can access... R-Kemp
5 ★Running on HTC Desire HD, with a sim pay as you go ... just to send SMS alerts regarding trouble, faults .. so one ...I wish there was a way to access from a browser and if it can keep historical events .. useful for validating false alarms. Tony. A.
5 ★Great app! Highly configurable!
5 ★Works perfectly, thank you
5 ★The DSCServer is working great on my phones and tablets. But more importantly is the support Mike provided in getting the server events to set my DSC-5222L camera event detection on and off based on alarm arming and disarming. Priceless!! Thanks Mike
5 ★I use this app running on an old android phone. It talks to the envisalink card in my dsc alarm panel and I can control all aspects of my alarm as well as opening/closing the garage door through a relay I installed. No complaints at all. Mike is the best! I've purchased multiple of his apps and love them all. P.s. get ring plus mobile for free phone service and your alarm can text you if your Internet is down.
1 ★If you're not a network specialist, run away!!!!!! Probably the hardest app I have ever had to install and I have been doing networking a long, long time.
