Description
《孫子兵法》被稱為《武經七書》之首。北宋朝廷爲軍事教學和訓練的需要，精選了《孫子兵法》、《吳子兵法》、《六韜》、《司馬法》、《三略》、《尉繚子》、《李衛公問對》七部著名兵書彙編而成《武經七書》，是中國古代第一部軍事教科書。《孫子兵法》作者為春秋末期的孫武。孫武，字長卿，又被尊稱為孫子，出生於約公元前535年，齊國樂安（今山東惠民）人。孫武出身於將門之家，從小受軍事思想的熏陶，年少時避亂離開齊國，到了吳國隱居，並在此時著成了《孫子兵法》。
公元前515年，吳王闔閭即位，孫武受大臣伍子胥推薦被任為將軍，孫武便將寫成的兵法獻給了吳王。孫武上任後，立即顯示出其卓越的軍事才能，在公元前512年，先後滅掉楚的屬國徐國和鐘吾。公元前506年，孫武統率3萬兵馬出師伐楚，在這場戰爭中，孫武指揮吳軍，五戰五勝，長驅千餘里，打敗了楚國的20萬大軍，一直打到楚的都城郢，使楚元氣大傷。從此，孫武一戰成名，吳國亦名聲大振。
到公元前496年，闔閭因傷過世，其子夫差繼位。隨著吳國霸業的蒸蒸日上，夫差亦變得自以為是，不納忠言。孫武於是便悄然歸隱深山，修訂其兵法，使其更臻完善。
