BackCountry Navigator has been on WM devices and preloaded on the Trimble Nomad outdoor rugged device. This Android version is more flexible, featured, and fun. Create a memory with maps.

For a one time fee, this a great addition to the outdoor gear you bought at Cabelas, REI, or another outdoor store. Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★Spent 14.99 for the app. Couldn't get it to work right. Thought I'd upgrade to XE to see if that would fix it but that is another 15 dollars. I don't want to pay double just to see if it will work. If I Uninstaller it within 3 days will I get a refund from the app store.
5 ★This is a fantastic app for either walking or riding. Can put waypoints on and single out different recordings. Tracks max speed distance traveled elevations and so much more. Love it
5 ★Great app! As the information from Crittermap states, the app requires some practice before taking it on a major trip. I've used it to log several trips, hiking and biking. I feared the battery usage would be excessive, but for outings of a few hours my phone's battery did not run low. I enjoyed knowing the maximum up and down speeds, time moving and not moving, and other statistics; as well as making screen shots of the tracks. Get this app to know where you are out-of-doors.
5 ★Spend a small amount of time getting to know this app and it will be ENORMOUSLY useful. It works great offline, no cell service needed; you have to choose areas to download onto your device before you go out and use it. You'll also need to turn on your gps antenna (wait until you get there to save power) and you can set the behavior of how often it determines your location to conserve even more battery power if desired. I find this FAR more useful than the comparatively low-tech handheld gps devices on the market because my smartphone can process all that data way faster than the old chips using tiny amounts of memory in those traditional handheld gps devices. I can get all kinds of different topo maps, overlay boundary data, private property, etc. Very valuable tool for hunting and hiking. I also recommend bringing an extra battery or a power pack for your phone since using the gps antenna constantly will drain your battery.
5 ★Excellent source for offroading.
5 ★I used the free version for a while and decided to upgrade to Pro just to show my support for this very useful app. The app can be difficult to figure out at times, but if you do some research, you find the answers. Many people complained that they couldn't get maps to load, or it stops tracking when your screen is off, or other problems. Those are problems I had too, but I watched a few videos and (gasp) read the manual to find the fix (sometimes an app setting, sometimes an Android setting).
5 ★This app saved my life! I was at 2400m on the mountains, it was very very foggy, the path was not clearly marked, it was freezing and getting dark. But I followed the route showed on the map (which was very very accurate) and in the end I reached the hut. Fully recommend it, and never go on mountains without such an app or other gps.
4 ★All these gps tools with offline maps are a bit quirky. However this one has consistently worked well for me. I paid for the accuterra maps and that has really made the difference. I really like being able to name map packages and then switching to the relevant map for my trip. Same thing goes for the trip database and waypoints. I do wish that Google maps were available. They are of little value in the Backcountry but it is easier to locate places with them.
3 ★This app is pretty cool, but for some (me), it would be WAY better if it was able to integrate with Android Auto in my vehicle. That would make it so a separate tablet clogging up my field of view wouldn't be needed. I'd give it 4 or 5 stars if it had this feature. (And maybe there's some reason it can't be integrated like this. Google works in mysterious ways sometimes...)
3 ★My favorite app for tracking my hikes, many times not on a trail. I've been able to upload the files to my Google Earth account and see all the stats for where I've been. For some reason, my recent hikes have not been tracking properly. The app shows where I begin hiking, but then it doesn't show any segments of my hike until I select "Show my current location," and then it draws a straight line to wherever I am (with infinity speed). I sure wish I knew how to fix this. I've missed two intense snowshoeing hikes that I would have liked to have documented. Please help me know how can fix it! Thanks...
2 ★Use to be awesome, now constantly losing positioning which means no more recorded tracks, or accurate current locations.
4 ★Only been using it for about a month. Still getting used to where to find features. There are a fair amount of maps available online and downloading sections for off line viewing is pretty good once you get used to it. I have found that it's easy to get lost around the map center if you are viewing a section that is not immediately in your area. Trying to stay zoomed to the right section can be tricky. I do a full walk through on my YT channel...Rough Riders Off-road.
