En azından olması için dünyada bir uğraş var; “eko-turizm” bu uğraşın ortak adı.Eko-turizm anlayışıyla “Karia”yı “Likya”ya bağlayacak, uluslararası standartlarda yeni bir uzun mesafe doğa yürüyüş ve bisiklet rotaları oluşturulmasını ve tanıtımını içeren Köyceğiz-Ortaca-Dalaman Yürüyüş ve Bisiklet Rotaları projesi, tanıtım adıyla The ECO Trails, 22 Ekim 2015’de tam da bu hedeflerle başladı; Dalyan Turizm, Kültür ve Çevre Koruma Derneği (Dalyan Dernek) girişimi ve koordinatörlüğünde Güney Ege Kalkınma Ajansı’nın (GEKA) desteğini alarak bölgenin turizm, çevre, yürüyüş ve bisiklet konularında faaliyet gösteren dernek ve grupları, kent konseyleri ve yerel yönetimleri biraraya getirdi ve 23 Nisan 2018’de tamamlandı.

The ECO Trails projesi ile; bölgemizde yerli ve yabancı turistlere yönelik sürdürülebilir turizmi teşvik etmek; bölge değerlerini tanıtmak ve en önemli varlığı olan doğasının korunması için farkındalık yaratmak; spor ve doğa turizminin gelişimi, kırsal kesimin turizmden pay alması ve yaz aylarına sıkışmış bölge turizm sezonunun ilkbahar ve sonbahar aylarını da kapsayacak şekilde genişlemesine katkıda bulunmak hedefleniyor.
