The revolves around a badass rowdy, Maari (Dhanush) who lives life on his own terms, and has an area in Chennai under his control, despite enemies, competition and a new bold and sincere cop who is bent on bringing Maari to justice.
Meanwhile a new girl (Kajal Agarwal) comes to Maari's area and has to deal with Maari's nemesis. Anirudh joins hands with ‘Poetu’ Dhanush again after blockbuster hits like VIP & 3.
Maari has six songs and each is set to a different flavour and are prospective chart-toppers in the ‘kuththu’ genre.
