Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

5 ★Very easy to use and view.
2 ★It is not user friendly, sharing articles option never works (bookmark keeps timing out), number of devices that a user can access it on is very limited so not practical for multiple people in one household to use. Also no way to see the National Post as well as the Ottawa Citizen which both come with the subscription apparently.
1 ★Why all the Permission? App asks for amazing number of permissions: identity, location, photo/media/files, WiFi, bluetooth, device type and ID, phone no. Clunky design. Need to log-in to read. Have to download a whole "ePaper." Not what I want. Un-installed within minutes.
1 ★The app has not been updated to work with the latest version of Android. It will not work.
4 ★Thus app is easy to use and well designed. It's a great way to read the print edition. But don't use a Sharpie to do the crossword on your screen. Lately, however, it crashes on my Android tablet whenever I try to use it. It works fine on my Android phone, though.
1 ★Latest version crashes constantly. Unusable now. Please fix.
2 ★This app have never been very consistent. I'm running on a relatively new Galaxy A7 and the app started failing daily. So, today, I uninstalled it and started to re-install it. The first pop up said that the app is written for an older version of Android that I am running. I am running 11. Maybe that's why the app is so flaky. I wonder is anyone at the Citizen is contemplating updating this thing.
1 ★Difficult to navigate.
2 ★I keep getting error message that this is an old app and check for updates. When I check for updates it just brings me to the same spot, tells me it is already installed. I would like to disable some of the permissions, such as access to my contact list, which seems like an unwarranted invasion of privacy. However when I try to do it, it tells me it is an old version and will stop working. I select "update" but it goes back to the original spot in the app store. Help!!
4 ★Local news that is informative!
