Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

4 ★Works great ... paper downloaded automatically and reading it is a very pleasant user experience.
4 ★New interface is more user-friendly. Been using the app for years now. Latest version is an improvement.
1 ★I tried to sign up but it was impossible. I finally gave up. The Citizen seemed to be actively barring me. Why bother putting out an e paper if you don't want any one to read it?
2 ★Would be more highly rated if it ran properly and did keep running downloads in the background when nothing is actually being downloaded. Come on Ottawa Citizen, fix this thing before I give up and cancel my subscription.
1 ★Junk. Keeps wanting to charge $1.99 even though I authorized the app with my sub.
2 ★When it works it's not bad but have had nothing but trouble with it
4 ★Be aware that this app WILL often crash when you zoom. Despite that, this is my preferred way to read the print edition. It's easy to use and easy to read. As a print subscriber, the ePaper has been free for months. Had a momentary glitch wrt paying for downloads when the Citizen changed to their new format but this was easily resolved with a quick email to tech support.
2 ★What's really frustrating is that the Ottawa Citizen doesn't understand that Mobil users want to choose how they absorb news. By category and in a simple format. I hate epaper as they force you too look at micro print and piles of adds. I would pay for an ad supported full version of the paper that doesn't look like the paper. BTW I am a weekend subscriber but don't want all the clutter on my phone. Please bring back the old app. Update: buggy.
1 ★I have used this app for 6 months, reading the paper every day and since going to the new format it has crashed every day multiple times. New update 5 Dec: just update to Lollipop and the app starts fine but crashes when a paper is launched.
1 ★This Citizen App is awful. Just getting the app onto my tablet is a nightmare. It took many times for it to recognize my password. Downloading of papers take forever and many times it does not download properly and I have to delete that days paper and re-download again. I have it on automatic download for each days paper and half the time this doesn't work. I just had to uninstall the app today as it was messing up my whole tablet. Again trying to get it downloaded took many tries. I also don't like the format and would prefer the old app before this last change with the Citizen. Hopefully these problems with this app gets resolved or I will be cancelling our subscription.
1 ★A real disappointment. Wont authorize and crashes after a minute. Useless.
3 ★Freezes. End of story.. Post media stuff isn't worth reading anyway.
