These trails are all connected to The Dubline, an orientation route through the city centre developed in partnership with Dublin City Council and one of the easiest ways to explore some of the city’s most visited sites and attractions.The Dublin Discovery Trails app enables you to uncover the compelling stories of Dublin’s culture, heritage and history through a series of engaging audio guides enriched with commentary, personal accounts, images and GPS-enabled maps. Each trail is simple to navigate, easy on the feet and has an exciting, revealing theme. Do just one, or do them all!
Choose from the following trails, each of which takes a minimum of 2 hours on foot:
• Retrace the dramatic events of the Easter Rising 1916 with Rebellion and hear how these six days changed the course of Irish history.
• The Story of Dublin will guide you through streets broad and narrow and take you on a thrilling journey through Dublin’s 1000 year history.
• Explore Kilmainham and surrounding parklandswith Echoes of War and discover moving stories of war and rebellion around every corner of this peaceful place.
• Go back in time with Empire to the busy streets of Dublin when it was one of the most important Cities in the British Empire.
It works offline - there is no need for a live data connection while using this app, as everything is stored on your phone after the initial download. This means you won’t be charged for expensive data roaming.

1 ★So after, what looks like 2 years, it still doesn't work. Map for Echoes of War doesn't work at all and the Heuston Station More info links to a "page not found". Terrible shame because it is a great idea. Uninstalling.

1 ★Photos don't work, map place names microscopic even when you expand the map. No narrative. Potentially a great ap, but very early programmers compilation in its current form, shouldn't be available for download, as it doesn't work yet. Disappointment.
1 ★2018 ... on my 10 inch Android tablet ... displays a smaller phone size rectangle , but most of the text is chopped off. I don't see any map to get me to the start of any tour. I think I downloaded the "Empire" tour. It seems like it played the first part which tells me it's about a castle, to wear sensible shoes and to watch out for the Dublin traffic. Maybe because of the reduced size of display I can't get any further than that. :-(
2 ★The app won't function on my phone correctly. It only filled a portion of the screen and content was cut off dispute this.

An-chuid obar le déanamh ar seo go foil. Disappointing for the Irish speaker as, after the introduction, the tour switches to English commentary only! All the text is in English only. The audio cannot be switched off. Collins Barracks is shown as being directly opposite Kilmainham Gaol! this really is an unfinished app, and just about worth its price.

5 ★Really easybto use and informative
3 ★Loved it, until it stopped working. Really enjoyed the rebellion tour, found a few hidden gems and really enjoyed the story telling of the audio guide. However I tried to use another tour and the app just lost all functionality, which was such a shame. If the technical problems can be overcome, this is a fantastic idea & I'd love to see it for more locations.
