4 ★I'm still new to Chirp and am enjoying this app so far. One minor glitch I am experiencing sometimes when rewinding a few seconds in the audio book, the app freezes not allowing me to pause the story and keeps buffering. I've had to swipe away the app and reopen which sometimes helps. The other glitch is that when I use the drop down notifications I am not always able to pause the app or swipe it away. Even though I would have closed the app, it behaves as though I'm still in it.
3 ★Decent app. I play books regularly on here and audible and they both are the same, once downloaded books play well and without interuption, however, can freeze from time to time if streaming. The app would benefit from an upgrade to being more functional by allowing in app purchases and searches, just overall account maintenance, without needing to go to the website. Although I've notice this is the case with lots of apps. i.e Netflix and HBO etc... have limitations on what you can do in app
5 ★I had been using this app for a long while.. loved it. But now all of a sudden it can't even sign in because it "can't connect to the internet right now" and I've checked... It's not my internet... I'm running off of my phone which is a Google Pixel 3. Pretty upsetting, I have a fairly good size library that i can no longer access! 😡 25 Oct 2019 UPDATE: Upgraded from one 🌟 to five as issue was finally fixed after much time. I appreciate the time that the technical support put into fixing it!
1 ★I ordered, and they received and collected my money, several new audiobooks but they didn't show up in my account. I uninstalled Chirp thinking that I could reinstall and fix my problem. Not so! I got a message that the app is not available for my Android phone. I still have the same device I've always had. If you are having problems, DON'T uninstall your app.
4 ★Works well and lots of great books to listen to for a small cost. The app is fine for downloading and listening to audiobooks. But, it could be improved to show/edit book categories (like online options) and needs the link to allow you to browse/buy other books. Also, it would be nice to be able to sort books by series in chronological order. Also, Chirp audiobooks play on Amazon Alexa devices. But you can't see chapter progress like you can with Audible audiobooks.
1 ★UPDATE: Received ONE email from CS with link to install this same version. Have installed 4 or 5 times- still freezes.I've had the chirp app for over a year now and loved it. Recently, however, it keeps freezing on my phone, even after uninstalling and reinstalling it. Everything is the same on this end so am not sure what the issue is but would love a resolution so I can listen to my books again. It also does not work well with Alexa- just keeps reading the same book no matter which I ask for☹️
3 ★First of all, I absolutely LOVE Chirp. The books are great, price is right/not a subscription, etc. I just wish the app always opened correctly. About 60% of the time I have to restart my phone because it just stays on the "Chirp" loading screen and never moves on. Is enough of an annoyance that sometimes I just open Spotify and listen to a podcast instead. If that was fixed, the app & Chirp would be PERFECTION!!
1 ★A good service ruined with an unreliable app that crashes, fails to play or simply stops for no reason requiring a phone restart to get going again. Worse yet, with no way of downloading the books you own, this terrible app is the only real way to access them. The audiobooks themselves are of good quality. If the app is ever adequately fixed or better yet if they allowed them to be downloaded as competing services do, so that you could use them on your device of choice, it could be great.
5 ★I've used several other audiobook apps, through my local library and stand alone versions. CHIRP is by far the easiest to install, update (when there is one), purchase new titles, and most of all, listen to the audiobook. I highly recommend this app. I have an Android phone and this gives me daily deals, as well as keeps me enthralled in my books. Be sure to download your audiobook to your device when you are on a WiFi at home. Then you can listen as long as you want, and you don't have to depend on sketchy internet connections.
2 ★This app keeps shutting off when listening to. It doesn't matter if I set the shut off setting time or don't set it. Very annoying as I like to listen to books while going to sleep. I've gone in and set auto updates as suggested but still doesn't work!!! Please help me to solve this problem and yes I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Thanks, Patricia Mueller
2 ★I love the concept of buying books without a membership but the player is a letdown. The FF & RWD buttons don't function properly sending you to places way beyond the stated interval, in the opposite direction or sometimes nowhere at all. It also loses your place if you shutdown the app and restart. Finding where you left off with the nav features available is super hard. If you can tolerate these annoyances, the player plays books and the books are reasonable so there's that.
1 ★While it is a great app for reading books and cheaper books than my audible subscription on Amazon, I cannot get it to shut off. I have hard reset my phone, force closed the app, gone into settings and force stopped it, everything short of deleting it. It begins reading every time I get in my car without fail and I am now , because of this faulty app, lost as to where I left off in my book when I was actually listening! I have looked up multiple suggestions and none have worked.
