十多年來，台灣眾多的公私立機關與計畫積極地將珍貴文物資產進行數位化保存與分享，舉凡動植物標本、書籍、照片、畫作、器物、地圖、建築、影音資料……等藏品，迄今已經累積了數百萬筆的數位內容，也因而累積了許多寶貴的數位化經驗。拓展台灣數位典藏計畫為了讓更多人認識數位典藏，進而使用數位典藏的內容與經驗於自身生活歷程之中，所以將歷年數位化工作流程之調查結果進行彙整，製作了「數位化工作流程 Digitization Guideline」APP。「數位化工作流程 Digitization Guideline」優化了前一版「動手玩數位 Let's Digitize!」應用程式，除了完整收錄29本彙集數位典藏計畫一手經驗的「數位化工作流程指南」全文電子書, 另外，從中也挑選出專案規劃、數位攝影、數位掃描及後設資料等關鍵流程，將各項工作中的重點，簡要地介紹給大眾，同時保留了標記全台數位化工作單位的「數位地圖」，讓使用者更方便的了解台灣地區數位化分布的狀況，也能就近尋找、觀覽台灣豐富多樣的數位化景觀。
「數位化工作流程」的五大功能如下:
(1)指南叢書：提供便利的電子書閱讀介面，使用者可隨時隨地瀏覽29本數位化工作流程指南。
(2)工作流程：簡要介紹數位化工作流程中的專案規劃、數位攝影、數位掃描及後設資料等關鍵重點。
(3)典藏觀察：國內外數位典藏趨勢及經驗分析、最新數位典藏技術介紹，以及藏品故事
(4)數位地圖：以地圖呈現各個數位典藏計畫的地理位置、基本資訊與參觀資訊等。
