Materials
STYROFOAM Brand Foam
Blocks: 12" x 4" x 2", one; 8" x 4" x 2", four
Discs: 4" x 1", two; 3" x 1", 20
Other Materials
Smooth Finish-TM- Paint by FloraCraft: Black;
Blue; Green; Red; Yellow; White
Craft sticks (see instructions)
Fiberfill stuffing, small amount
Tools
Serrated knife
Candle stub or paraffin
Fine-line black permanent marker
Pencil
Ruler
Medium flat paintbrush
Disposable palette
Water basin
Paper towels
Scissors
Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
Thick, white craft glue
Instructions
1. Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin. Refer to
diagram to cut engine parts from larger foam block. Gently
mold cut edges with fingers to smooth.
2. Using photo as guide, glue engine pieces together,excluding wheels; align brush guard with bottom edge of foamblock. Glue caboose top to center of one remaining foam block. Let dry.
3. Paint engine black and brush guard red. Mix small amountblack paint into white to make gray; paint smokestack. Paintall foam disc edges black; paint flat sides gray. Paintcaboose yellow and remaining foam blocks as follows: onegreen; one red; one blue. Let dry.
4. Paint black "spokes" on large, rear engine wheels as shown.Use pencil eraser or paintbrush handle to paint black dot incenter of each wheel. Use pencil to trace windows on each sideof caboose and engine. Paint engine windows gray and caboose windows black.
5. Paint yellow stripe around top of each train car at sameheight. Paint red stripes on engine and caboose as shown. Let dry.
6. To make train tracks, place two parallel craft sticks onwork surface. Glue three craft sticks, evenly spaced, acrossfirst two. Repeat until track is desired length, gluingsection ends together. Glue small amount fiberfill to top of smokestack.
