The Discover Lerwick app was created through Living Lerwick, a group of businesses working together to promote Lerwick Town Centre.Using the GPS facility on your mobile device you can find nearby Points of Interest easily.
Whether you are a local person or a visitor, you will enjoy finding out more about Lerwick Town Centre.
Download the app and learn as you walk around each of the locations and compare the then and now. Stop, start and take it at your own pace. You’ll be amazed at the wealth of history which surrounds you.
The app contains:
- a map showing each Point of Interest on the trail
- Choose your interest(s): Architecture / Buildings, History, Social History, Ancestry, Industry, Fashion, Art, Viewpoints
- pictures and descriptions of each Point of Interest
- audio recordings of local stories relating to the Point of Interest
- up to date details on what is there now
- Choose your product/service shows the location of businesses providing that service
This app was made possible with information from the local community, financial contributions from Lerwick town centre businesses and generous funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Community Development Fund.
