Materials

Other Materials
Variegated decorative paper, 12" x 12", one sheet
Spanish moss, small amount
Artificial branch with leaves, 18"-20" long
Silk cherry blossoms, one stem
Artificial miniatures: bird's nest, 3" across;
speckled egg; mushroom bird, 3"
Heavy-duty brown floral wire
Hook-and-loop tape dots
Tools
Serrated knife
Candle stub or paraffin
Pencil
Ruler
Putty knife, 1" wide
Scissors
Wire cutters
Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
Non-wrinkling paper paste
Optional: Rubber brayer
Instructions
1. Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin. Measure
and mark a 12" x 12" square onto foam sheet; cut out.
2. Use putty knife to cover front of foam square with thin,
even layer of paper paste. Press blue paper against foam,
smoothing from center out to edges. Weight paper until dry, or use a rubber brayer to ensure strong bond. Let dry.
3. Cut four 1" x 12" strips from green paper; glue to foam edges in same way as blue paper.
4. Place branch on paper-covered square and bend into pleasing arrangement. Create place for nest. Cut away parts of branch that won't be needed.
5. Cut several 1" wire lengths and bend into u-shaped floral pins. Slip each pin over branch and push firmly through paper into foam to secure. Use as many u pins as needed to secure branch.
6. Cut away back of nest so it will rest flat against foam square; secure to foam with glue gun. Glue a bit of Spanish moss inside nest. Glue egg and bird into nest, using photo as guide.
7. Cut cherry blossoms from spray and glue to branch in lifelike manner.
8. Glue tape dots to top back corners of square for hangers.
