Наиболее известный перевод на русский язык принадлежит Нине Дарузес.Гекльберри Финн, сбежавший от жестокого отца, вместе с беглым негром Джимом сплавляются на плоту по реке Миссисипи. Спустя некоторое время к ним присоединяются проходимцы Герцог и Король, которые в итоге продают Джима в рабство. Гек и присоединившийся к нему Том Сойер организуют освобождение узника. Но, если Гек всерьёз освобождает Джима из заточения, то Том делает это просто для интереса — он знает, что хозяйка Джима уже дала ему свободу.
