Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

2 ★Like other reviewers, I find the 'improvements' to the audio player appalling. Creating the playlist is totally unintuitive (what happened to the checklist?), with no ability to restart at your last place, or edit contents. Reading style has deteriorated, intonation all over the place, with readers clearly not understanding the content they're conveying. Come on, Economist, you're better than this.
5 ★The app is easy to use. You don't have to subscribe on an ongoing basis, instead you can just download the edition that you want to read and only pay for that. Enjoy!
2 ★I'm revising down my rating after the recent change to the audio UI that makes it substantially harder to see which parts of the current issue one has downloaded and played. Given all of the reviews this autumn from other users who, like me, switched back to the legacy app because they (1) didn't like the audio experience on the new app and (2) liked the audio experience on the old app, it seems surprising and risky to regress the experience like this.
5 ★I Love the app, it allows me to cover the wave tops of important issues while one the go using the audio features. However, I've also subscribed to recieve print, with each weekly edition, I skip through a read those topics I wish to be more versed in. This can be advantageous if time does not permit me to read the entire edition (usually 60+ pgs).
5 ★Fantastic: I get my published Economist by the evening of every Thursday. Not different from the printed, it is infact an exact copy of the printed with the following advantages; 1) Arrives quite earlier 2) Able to be green compliance, saving trees, and inks 3) Able to activate digital sound as the magazine is read out in its entirety should I opt to listen. A get mails invitations to attend webinars organised by the magazine.
5 ★Great app. For some reason the Economist decided to call it "legacy app" and have something else as the main app, even though this is a much better choice. This app offers more content, has a much more intuitive interface and has fewer glitches.
5 ★(Edited) bumped to 5, not because the app is great, but because I don't want it to go away before fatal flaws in new app are resolved. excellent content and i love the audio, but have two feature requests a) sleep timer or configurable end-of-article policy for audio b) store on sd card or ability to selectively delete large audio downloads
2 ★I used to love it, so much better then the new app, but the recent update to the audio recordings ruined it. Playing and downloading articles became hard, it never remembers where I was, please restore the old version and just leave it as it was. Would love to have it back and give a 5 star
4 ★I am still unsure if I like this app more than the new one. Clearly, what it is nicer here than the new app, is that a customised playlist of articles is possible (although the audio interface from last year was better). But the bookmarking of the new app is better than in this legacy app, I think. I still use more often the legacy one precisely because of the audio playlist.
1 ★Horrible app. I can't play the audio in the background any more, I prefer the previous version. I contacted them via live chat, trying to report the problem. They completely ignored me and kept me waiting for an hour... just terrible.
1 ★Latest update screws up audio listening. I have no idea how it works. Ever heard of UX? Learning curve? Well this new update to the audioplayer is confusing and frustrating. I used to put the audio articled before sleeping but now they play in a loop rather than stop when the magazine is finished. The app alaways had bugs and crashed but this is just bad design idess purposly implemented
5 ★I use the app for audio. While the audio experience is not as good as it used to be in the classic app from years ago, it at least includes a functioning playlist. For audio, this app is much better than the current (3/12/21) 'non-legacy' Economist app.
