Vigevano Smart is an interactive guide to the city of Vigevano based on the augmented reality technology: looking at the most important monuments of the city (which were previously mapped and catalogued) through the smartphone camera, thanks to the AR-CODE technology, the monument is recognized and multimedia information is presented that describe it: text, image gallery and videos that tell its history and characteristics. Thanks to the NEAR functionality we can explore the surrounding world with the smartphone to find out what and where are the monuments mapped in the vicinity; alternatively the Map view shows the position of the monuments themselves on the map of the historic centre of the city. The monuments can be viewed all together or grouped into routes according to historical or architectural criteria: the paths indicate to the tourist the visit criterion chosen and the route to be followed. The Proximity function warns the visitor (even with the phone in standby mode) that he is in the vicinity of an important monument included in the active list and it invites him to discover it with AR-CODE. Vigevano Smart also has a built-in QR code reader that allows you to access information on the monuments through plates equipped with QR codes installed in several locations across the city. Tourists can download in advance all information relating to the monuments of Vigevano in order to minimize the amount of data downloaded from the cellular network.
