Smarteca navazuje na aplikaci WK eReader. Jedná se o aplikaci na čtení e-knih společnosti Wolters Kluwer, a. s. Smarteca je aplikace speciálně vytvořená pro práci s odbornou literaturou. Aplikace je propojená s e-shopem Wolters Kluwer. E-kniha se po zakoupení automaticky nahraje na uživatelský účet přístupný v prostředí čtečky po zadání přihlašovacích údajů, které si vytvořil nakupující v eShopu. Po stažení je možné číst bez on-line připojení a s textem e-knihy dále pracovat: barevně zvýrazňovat text, vytvářet poznámky, záložky.
