2015年2月12日に通算50,000号を迎えた毎日新聞社はさまざまな形で紙とネットの融合に挑んでいます。その一つが「毎日AR」.。拡張現実（Augmented Reality＝AR）の技術を生かしたスマートフォンやタブレットなどのモバイル端末向けアプリケーションソフトです。これをお手持ちのモバイル端末にインストールしてから起動させ、毎日新聞社の発行物に印刷されているターゲット画像に内蔵カメラを向けると、その画面に映った印刷物に重なるように、関連するデジタルコンテンツが表示されます。
関連するコンテンツとしては、ニュースの現場で記者が撮影する動画や読者からお寄せいただく動画、あるいはソーシャルメディアなどを想定しております。
