Bérchules es un municipio de la Alpujarra de Granada, enclaustrado en el Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada.Esta localidad está enclavada en la vertiente sur del Parque Natural de Sierra Nevada, en alta montaña, entre bellos parajes y nacimientos de aguas ferruginosas y carbonatadas. Bérchules cuenta con un manantial llamado Fuente Agria y situado en la hondonada del río Guadalfeo. Sus casas blancas de tejados planos y sus calles escalonados, perfectamente adaptadas a lo quebrado del terreno conforman la típica arquitectura alpujarreña.
Una singularidad de Bérchules que merece ser destacada es que celebra la Nochevieja en agosto. Este hecho se debe a que un reciente 31 de diciembre se produjo un corte de luz en el pueblo privando a los vecinos de seguir las doce campanadas y despedir el año. Los berchuleros decidieron entonces tomarse las uvas en pleno verano.
El callejero te permitirá localizar cada lugar de interés y cada bar o restaurante donde poder degustar los ricos productos derivados del cerdo, manjares como el jamón y productos de la Alpujarra.
El conjunto de todas las características arquitectónicas, culturales y paisajísticas convierten éste municipio en un destino turístico excepcional. El turismo en el espacio rural, se está convirtiendo en un componente más de la calidad de vida, en una alternativa a la vida urbana y representa actualmente para los alpujarreños uno de los mayores recursos económicos. Por lo que se plantean actuaciones que deben hacer hincapié en la conservación y potenciación de nuestros recursos naturales, culturales y turísticos.
