En la parte occidental del Aljarafe, donde la comarca se funde con el Condado de Huelva y con el Campo de Tejada, descansa Carrión. Gonzalo de Céspedes, caballero veinticuatro del concejo de Sevilla, compró el señorío del entonces Carrión de los Ajos al rey Felipe II en 1576.
Nuestro pueblo está vinculado al mantón de Manila, desde que en los años treinta del siglo XX surgieran los primeros talleres en domicilios de mujeres, tradición que continúa en la actualidad.
Es también nuestro municipio un referente en investigación e innovación en el sector del agua, ya que en él se encuentra ubicada la Planta Experimental de Carrión de los Céspedes, perteneciente a la fundación CENTA, una plataforma tecnológica singular y única en el mundo.
