Description

ViewPoint - an augmented reality (AR) view of the world. Unlike some other AR applications, ViewPoint comes complete with its own worldwide database of place names, mountain/hill peaks, castles, ruins, and monuments, so when you find yourself in the middle of nowhere without internet access, ViewPoint is still able to augment the view with information from its database.

Remember to calibrate your compass by rotating your device slowly (with the app running) for at least three cycles around the vertical, lateral and longitudinal axes. For an example, please see this You Tube video, Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj78YMAOhjs

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

1 ★Disappointment. It seems to be not much more than a GPS centric app that combines your location with a relevant Topo Map. In the Canadian Rockies, it could not find the 1:50,000 map that was relevant to my location, so I just got a half blank screen (with some circle markers in the middle of a completely blank area). If you are lucky enough to have your location in its map database, hopefully you are a skilled map reader, and not offline. And if you are, then you probably already have a proper mapping program like Locus or Orux. So either way, I don't see any compelling reasons to be using this program. If you want to identify Peaks, use PeakFinder.
5 ★Used at Greenwich, our first visit, extremely useful and easy to use. Would recommend to everyone who enjoys the great outdoors.
1 ★Is it just me? I found this app's User Interface completely mystifying. I finally gave up and uninstalled it. I tried several other apps that also display peak names overlaid on the camera view and they were relatively easy to use.
