In unserer Forschung beschäftigen wir uns mit emotionalen Prozessen, die unser modernes Essverhalten mehr und mehr beeinflussen. Nicht nur der Hunger treibt unsere Nahrungsaufnahme an, sondern auch der Wunsch nach Selbstbelohnung oder der Einfluss von negativen Emotionen und Stress. Gleichzeitig zwingt uns ein unrealistisches Schönheitsideal zu strenger Zügelung. Daraus entstehen häufige Entscheidungskonflikte zwischen langfristigen Gesundheitszielen (abnehmen, gesund essen) und kurzfristigem Genuss.In einem aktuellen EU-geförderten Projekt geht es darum, diese Entscheidungskonflikte mittels neurokognitiven Messungen im Labor sowie durch alltagsnahe Befragungen auf Smartphones besser zu verstehen und zu behandeln. Diese Forschung richtet sich an Personen, die häufig Diät halten oder sich beim Essen oft von Emotionen, Frust, Stress oder Langeweile leiten lassen. Gleichzeitig werden auch Personen mit Essstörungen (Anorexie, Bulimie, Essanfallsstörung) oder Übergewicht/Fettleibigkeit untersucht.
