There are great examples throughout our range of our use of interactive content in areas such as seamanship, boat handling, passage planning, knots and stability but you’ll find something very special in our editions for:
• VHF – where we’ve created animated examples of the voice procedures in the RYA VHF Handbook to help students pass the RYA SRC exam and also linked the content to sample questions.
• Navigation – where we’ve developed a special tool to replicate using the tidal curves in the RYA Training Almanacs

1 ★Buy the ebook and now have to install the app.... if I had more time I would have just bought the paperback book. Same price and you actually get something for your money. Today was my first dealings with the RYA. initial impression I'd a total waste of time and money, but you have to tick a box and pay. Total waste of time and money.
1 ★Not only the whole idea of reading ebooks on a small mobile device is terrible, but also the app itself is of a very low quality. It doesn't seem that any effort was made to make it's usage minimally convenient.
4 ★Initially not happy. i purchased the first aid book in the app and i cannot view as it keeps askin me to log in and i have not been provide with any login details. ...21/0202023 update...i contacted tech support and they responded promptly suggesting i uninstall and reinstall app. this worked! thanks!
1 ★Avoid. Book won't download. Clunky app. Terrible approach for enabling access to content people have purchased. Please allow download of the ebook file for use on other very common ebook readers (e.g. kindles) that work for WEEKS without power (e.g. WHEN YOU'RE AT SEA!). This is a ridiculous approach. I would have bought the paper book if I knew this was how this product would have been delivered. Who makes these ridiculous decisions? Any refund option?!
1 ★on android 6.1 this app is unfit for purpose.Navigation on touch pages virtually impossible. Fonts way too small. Poor page size meaning difficult to size correctly. You wonder if the app was tested on common platforms prior to acceptance and release. Back to hardcopy for me.
1 ★Tried to log in but had to change my password to access my ebook. After logging out, unable to gain access again. It didn't even recognise my email address 😡😡😡.
2 ★The RYA books are really great! This is feedback to the app developers. I read the contents often via mobile phone. I can see that the level of detail actually require bigger screens but I really miss the posibility to move around the zoomed-in view - e.g. I have to zoom out and in again few centimeters to a side to see see that section of the zoomed-in page, very impractical. Also I think I would agree with the other opinions that the app's HMI could be generally improved...
