De VISwijzer beoordeelt vissen, schaal- en schelpdieren, die in Nederland te koop zijn op duurzaamheid.Vissen kunnen vier verschillende kleuren krijgen:
Blauw
Beste keus, kies het MSC keurmerk voor duurzame visserij en het ASC keurmerk voor verantwoorde kweek.
Groen
Goede keus, deze vis is niet overbevist of wordt zorgvuldig gekweekt, met minimale schade aan de natuur.
Geel
Deze vis is een tweede keus. Er zijn nog problemen met de visserij of kweek.
Rood
Koop deze vis niet, ze wordt overbevist of de manier van vangst of kweek is te belastend
voor de natuur.
Met de VISwijzer kun je gemakkelijk zoeken welke vis verantwoord is en welke niet. Wel zo handig als je vis koopt in de supermarkt of een lekker gerecht uitzoekt in een restaurant! De VISwijzer is een initiatief van Good Fish Foundation, Stichting De Noordzee (SDN) en het Wereld Natuur Fonds (WNF).
