Empresa fundada em 13/07/1977 pelo Dr. Nilo Eduardo de Oliveira Lawall, farmacêutico – bioquímico formado em 28/06/1976 pela Faculdade de Farmácia e Bioquímica da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. Sua primeira sede era situada na Rua Pedro Scapim, era uma estrutura modesta com apenas um funcionário na recepção e o próprio Dr. Nilo assumindo todas as outras funções. Era uma época que a especialidade de Patologia Clínica engatinhava e todos os procedimentos eram muito trabalhosos; fazer uma simples dosagem de glicose era uma luta; demorava mais de duas horas. O teste para diagnóstico de gravidez usado na época chamava Galli-Manini cujos procedimentos consistiam em injetar no tecido subcutâneo do sapo, 5 ml de urina da paciente e esperar 45 minutos; em seguida, pingava-se uma gota de éter nas costas do sapo estimulando sua micção que era colhida em uma placa de petri. Esta urina era examinada e se contivesse espermatozóides, o exame estava positivo (o BHCG, estimula a liberação de espermatozóides) Estes fatos demonstram como o Laboratório evoluiu.
