Tarihi bilgiler ışığında bölgenin Bozok Türkleri Bayat Boyu tarafından yoğun istikameti dolayısıyla köyün de Bayat Türkleri tarafından kurulmuş olması muhtemeldir.Köy askeri darbe esnasındaki kargaşadan kaçmak isteyen üç aile tarafından yoğun bir ormanın içerisinde il ve ilçe merkezine uzak bir yerde kurulmuştur.
Köyde geleneksel Türk kültürü etkin olmakla birlikte yaklaşık 2008 tarihlerine kadar geçimini çoğunlukta çiftçilik ve hayvancılıkla sağlıyordu.
Son zamanlarda biraz daha inşaat sektörüne işçi vermekle birlikte farklı istihdam alanlarına da yönelmesiyle köy sakinlerinin; köyde maddi gelir diğer köylere oranla oldukça yükselmiştir.
Evler önceden bölgenin coğrafi etkisinden dolayı kerpiçten yapılmaktaydı. Şimdi ise bunun yerini modern beton tarzı dikey evler almıştır.
Coğrafi özelliği kışları oldukça soğuk ve yoğun kar yağışı; yazları ise oldukça kurak ve sıcaktır. İklim dolayısıyla buğday hasılatı yapılmaktadır. Nüfus olarak Sorgun'a bağlı köyler arasında en nüfuslu ilk üç köy arasına girer. Eğitim durumu ise oldukça düşüktür. Kamu sektörüne devlet dairesine yetiştirdiği kalifiyeli eleman sayısı bakımından oldukça verimsizdir.
Ancak bu gerçeği son zamanlarda liseye olan katılımın artışı biraz daha değiştirmektedir
