GEER es el acrónimo de GRUPO DE ESTUDIO DE ENFERMEDADES DEL RAQUIS. Fundada en el año 1981 por especialistas dedicados al tratamiento de la patología de la Columna Vertebral. Está reconocida como la SOCIEDAD ESPAÑOLA DE COLUMNA VERTEBRAL, y a nivel internacional como la SPANISH SPINE SOCIETY por todas las sociedades científicas.Agrupa a médicos y cirujanos especialistas en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de las enfermedades de la columna vertebral, siendo reconocida en todos los ámbitos como la sociedad científica interlocutora válida correspondiente a nivel de la patología vertebral, destacando especialmente la SRS (Scoliosis Research Society) a nivel norteamericano, la SILACO (Sociedad Iberolatinoamericana de Columna) a nivel Iberoamericano y la EUROSPINE (The Spine Society of Europe) a nivel europeo.
De hecho está registrada como Sociedad para el Estudio de las Enfermedades del Raquis, Sociedad Española de Columna Vertebral y Spanish SpineSociety.
