Ratib Habib Umar merupakan wirid yang banyak mendatangkan faedah bagi yang membacanya setiap waktu, terutama bagi yang sedang menghadapi kesulitan. Al-Habib Isa bin Muhammad al-Habsyi mengatakan bahawa Habib Umar banyak sekali menyebutkan akan keutamaan-keutamaan ratib ini.
Pernah disebutkan bahawa ketika ada sekelompok orang datang kepada Habib Umar mengeluh kesulitan pencarian dan lamanya musim kemarau yang menimpa kepada mereka selama beberapa waktu. Mereka diperintah membaca Ratib beliau dan dzikir Tauhid. Setelah mereka mengerjakannya, maka dengan berkat bacaan itu, Allah memberi keluasan hidup bagi mereka.
Menurut Syeikh Ali Baras, jika Ratib Habib Umar dibacakan bagi penduduk suatu desa atau bagi suatu keluarga, maka desa itu atau keluarga itu akan dipelihara oleh Allah dengan peliharaan yang amat ketat. Selanjutnya Syeikh Ali berkata: "Pernah aku diceritai oleh sebagian orang bahawa ketika mereka takut menghadapi rampok yang akan menjarah rumah mereka, maka mereka membaca Ratib Habib Umar sehingga rumah mereka tidak sampai dijarah oleh kaum perampok itu meskipun jumlah mereka sebanyak 15 orang".
