Description
StayHomeSafe is a mobile application introduced by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) to monitor whether persons under compulsory quarantine are staying in their designated places of quarantine. This mobile application will analyse environmental signals, including location and other signals, in the background to determine the said persons’ presence in their places of quarantine as required under law to guard against the spread of COVID-19 in the community.The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer of HKSARG is responsible for the implementation of the StayHomeSafe mobile app.

1 ★Don't uninstall/reinstall the app to try and get it working. I was instructed to do so by the IT Dept once I got through (line is very busy) and now I can't re sign in because "user already exists." Keep trying to call the hotline. Once you get through they will take your details and get someone to call you back.
1 ★Used this app when I was forced to download it when I arrive in Hong Kong, took forever to register the bracelet thingy, the app went stupid when I went to the front door to collect delivery thats placed just outside the hotel room, and when my girlfriend came back to Hong Kong and was asked to walk the edges of the property, it does not consider people do live in houses and the 1min time limit is not enough to walk half the property. we only finished walking from the gate to the backyard
1 ★Tried to get it to work all day yesterday, lots of glitches and design errors, and it still doesn't work. Support hotline is always full and while I appreciate that there's not enough manpower and this app was a last minute thing, it's still quite frustrating.
2 ★I struggled with the QR code reader, but it worked when I held my wrist at arms length from my phone. Also, pressing the back button after reading the terms and conditions exited the app, so I had to rescan my QR code. Update: The app periodically asks you to rescan the QR code, which I have never succeeded in doing.
1 ★Poor Bluetooth connectivity results in incessant verification requests. If you have any other Bluetooth device (headphones, watch, etc) it will interfere with correct functioning and will need to be removed entirely from your phone's connected devices list. 1 star though, as it does help you develop incredible anxiety! ;)
1 ★Extremely poor app it keeps crashing my Android phone. Also not enough time scan when verify message arrived, I keep missing the validation. Also the wrist band QR code has faded after 4 days, so got tech support to WhatsApp me my QR code and I emailed to myself so when the verify notice comes I scan the QR code from my laptop screen. Not even sure it works at all, needs serious troubleshooting.
1 ★Appreciate the initiative of the bracelet and the quarantine, however the app itself is very NOT user- and phone-friendly. The requirement of turning on everything including bluetooth, Wifi and GPS seems unnecessary, which slows down and crashed my phone 20 times during the quarantine period according to my phone analytics, & I was told to never switch it off I.e. I cannot reboot when it severely lagged. 15 seconds is unrealistically short when you are focusing on things or when phone crashed.
1 ★Useless app. It installs on my phone, but absolutely refuses to work. As soon as I press the icon or the open button in Play Store, it flashes on my screen, and then closes. That is 30 minutes of my life and that of the customs staff we aren't getting back.
1 ★It expected me to unlock the phone and scan the QR Code within 15 seconds when it wants me to. 15 sec seriously ? Even I'm at home doesn't mean my phone is glued on me 24/7. What if I went to toilet or shower? 15 minutes is more reasonable.
3 ★Setting up and linking took 10 sec, very easy. After taking home it asks to rescan wristband every 2 to 3 hours. Hotline support is very responsive to emails on Sunday but no solution besides turn on WiFi and Bluetooth... Yes they are all on and phone is 30cm away from my wristband.
1 ★This app wants me to scan the QR code on my tracker every half an hour or so. Why? My phone's never more than a meter away from me and it's not like I take my tracking bracelet off at any point during the day or night Not that it matters anyway because the QR code faded away after day 3 of quarantine
1 ★A single notification sound is not enough. The app should have an option for a continuous ring to warn users a scan is required. The focus time on the QR code takes too long and it's easy to miss the connection time out.
